No-one, hopefully. I like the streak. Kerber to win Stuttgart to keep it going!

Re: Who will end the 2019 streak of no repeating winners?

in Istanbul definitely not, while in Stuttgart there is like a 30% chance of it happening, I can see Siegemund trolling us all again and prolonging the streak

My guess is that the Rome champion will end the streak

If anyone, hopefully Petra bc I want her to finally get #1. However I went with Garbi. She needs a little distinction.

Kvitova should have ended this a while ago and I'm backing her to be the one to do it and hopefully very soon because I'm sick of hearing about it.

Re: Who will end the 2019 streak of no repeating winners?

I can see either Petra or Kiki ending it in Stuttgart. They both like clay and Petra obviously prefers indoor conditions. Petra has also nearly ended the streak already in both Dubai and at the Australian Open.

Having said all that, Svitolina also likes clay, is back after some time off, and has usually won a Premier or seven by this time of the year. So I can see her taking the title and the streak continuing after Stuttgart.

I dunno about Yastremska in Istanbul. She's been messy all year, and there are a few strong players and a few clay lovers in the draw (CSN, Giorgi, Sakkari, Martic, Strycova, Buzarnescu, Tomljanovic, Jabeur, Maria, Flipkens, Mladenovic).

It can happen in Stuttgart, where the surface can allow for many different type of results. Bertens, Goerges, Kvitova, Osaka, and Pliskova could win it. But so can a Halep, Kerber, Wozniacki, or Svitolina.

Re: Who will end the 2019 streak of no repeating winners?

Bianca Andreescu is a repeat winner this year, she won the WTA125 Newport Beach... Not officially a “WTA Tour” win but still a pro tour title...

I picked Bertens from the choices as she’s proably the best of the current winners on clay...

The PlisBot P470 is on the entry list for Stuttgart. I fear this runs time may be up.

I think Bertens - she's a force on clay

RIP Elena Baltacha, thank you for dedicating your life to a sport we all love. You'll be missed but never forgotten.
