Question What does it say that Serena Williams hasn't won a title in her last 12 tournaments?

The title says it all. No title since she came back, after 12 tournaments. Must be some kind of 'record' for her right?
Do you think that she has passed her peak and will never win a tournament again?
Discuss.

EDIT after the French Open 2019

Re: What does it say that Serena Williams hasn't won a title in her last 8 tournament

The things is, some of her haters were not even born when she won her first slam.

How many WTA players over the age of 35, have been in more than 2 slams finals in the last 12 months?
So one wonders where all that hate comes from if it's not for the color of her skin?
Others came back before her and have yet to make even a slam SF.

Re: What does it say that Serena Williams hasn't won a title in her last 8 tournament

It says that age brings new issues. Like extra pressure late in tournaments, and the chance of injuries
I thought Venus had a great year in 2017, but she lost in the finals of AO, W, YEC, and SF of USO, IW
Its not easy to close at that age, or to stay healthy
I predicted this when she came back. She had a great first 2 round draw at IW. Players who are nervous in that situation. Then Serena lost to Venus, which also was logical
She played great to make 2 slam finals, but the pressure is intense at her age trying to close. All things everyone knew before she came back.

It means nothing. That said, I'm waiting for the inevitable comparisons this thread will bring.

It says nothing. She has played 9 tournaments in her comeback and already been in 2 GS finals. I like her chances of getting more titles but if she doesn't she has had a remarkable career.

There should be a thumb-down button here. Too much crap.

Re: What does it say that Serena Williams hasn't won a title in her last 9 tournament

Another thing that sticks out is that the top 10 or Hall of Fame players seem to really want to play Serena. Azarenka was focused. Muguruza was on fire after the first 3 games. I thought Kvitova was very motivated last summer, so was Osaka, kerber, so was Halep in Melbourne. Pliskova played some pressure points very well.
They want to test themselves against Serena while she is still on tour. They were some very interesting matches. When she is playing Rodina or Goerges, she goes right thru them. But the best players are up to the challenge and are embracing it

I think all it says that she’s only prioritizing a slam title.

Re: What does it say that Serena Williams hasn't won a title in her last 9 tournament

She is not 23 , she is 37. She still made 2 slam finals after comeback. Yes she lost them but she lost to inspired opponents who wants to bring their best against serena.
Osaka bcoz she was facing her idol n suddenly she starts playing her A game which is modeled on serena and quite younger version of serena( no she is not better than young serena)
Kerber with her agressive counter punching will always be threat to serena at this age!
Lost to kvitova again great player
Konta loss was bad i agree but its ok
Defeated halep.
Overall she is doing good. And i still think she can win wimbledon.
Her priorties r slams not rome and madrid.

Another title, I think so, another slam, hard to say. Age is not kind to anyone, unless of course you're Keanu Reeves, he's just immune to that sort of stuff.

It says she didn't applied for tournaments like Tianjin or Bogota just to prove some doubters she can still rise a trophy

Those GS finals:

Wimbledon, def. #105, #135, #62, #120, #52, #13, lost to #10 3-6, 3-6 in 1hr 5min.
USO, def. #68, #101, #16, #44, #8, #18, lost to #19 2-6, 4-6 in 1hr 19min.

So on one hand, she hasn't faced much Top 10 to reach these GS finals, she hasn't had to face elite opposition B2B (and see how her fitness handles it), and then she lost pretty comprehensively when facing the elite player in the final both times. It's hard to count her out but at her age... it gets harder, not easier. Wimbledon this year will be her best chance.

Simona Halep discombobulates Serena Willians 6-2 6-2 in 56 minutes.
