None of the top seeds impresses me. Let Mertens win it

Re: WWW Indian Wells?

Azarenka vs Lapko !
And then R2 vs Serena !
Such a hard draw for all of them ...

R1 Petkovic vs Venus !
And then R2 vs Kvitova !

Kanepi vs Larsson !
Kaia leads Head To Head 4-0 !

R2 could be Mertens vs Anisimova !

A possible R2 Cibulkova vs Andreescu !

Maybe in R2 Garcia vs Brady again !

Yastremska vs Gavrilova !
And then R2 vs Buzarnescu.

R1 Vondrousova vs Siegemund !
And then R2 vs Kasatkina

Ostapenko in R2 vs Kuzmova
Slumping Jelena will lose this for sure ...

A lot of exciting matches

Serena: "We have great personalities like Jelena (Jankovic) on the tour."
Jelena: "If I had to pick someone after me, I'd pick Serena."

I fancy Sabalenka's chances here. Fairly soft section until Angie, and since it's not a slam, who know's which Kerber will show up.

Re: WWW Indian Wells?

I am afraid that Venus will really going south within the next 4 weeks. SF Miami + QF Indian Wells 2018 are her best results right now on her account.

Kiki may beat Naomi again. I feel it.

What's weird is to see Y.Wang and Kenin in the first round. And they say the field has no depth.

Who cares of hypertrophic weapons when the player on the court moves like music?

If they do meet in R2 and Osaka doesn't bagel Kiki, I don't know. No greater time for revenge than this.
The good news is that a lot of that draw will fall apart before she gets there. Vika might be a tough cookie... for like a set I suppose (I don't think she's back to her peak yet to pose a major challenge... and I'm not saying Serena is, but I just feel her recent slam failures might have motivated her to train and deliver even better... perhaps not in IW still - but who knows).

As for my fave, based on social media reports, she's been spending the last couple of days in a lot of Nike photo-shoots and practicing tweeners with mini-rackets... so I doubt this is the place where she'll give her all.

I don't think Osaka is at the top of her game either (the split with Sascha may have been done for good personal reasons, but I do expect an impact on her performance).

So I would say this is pretty open. I wouldn't be surprised if a lower ranked player pulls a Vesnina.

Yes, this is a section with last weeks final and the YEC winner
6 Svitolina vs BYE
Y. Wang vs Kenin

Last year Miami was even crazier!

Svitolina vs BYE
Osaka vs Serena

Re: WWW Indian Wells?

Halep or Kvitova and I suspect one of them will be #1 in the world after Indian Wells.

Osaka and Svitolina also have a chance. Osaka since she is the player to beat at the moment and Svitolina because I feel like this slow court would suit her game well.

Kvitova will not be No 1. She ain't going to reach Semis with this kind of Draw. She blew it in Dubai. Had she won the Final she would only be 16 Points behind Osaka in the Rankings.

Halep, yup I can go with that given her cupcake Draw. And everyone wonders why she stays consistently in the Top 5...because of these kind of weak Draws.

Re: WWW Indian Wells?

I am kind of surprised to see Serena being the bookmakers fav yet again. Can she be relied on to come through draws like this at her current level of fitness? Is she even all that motivated for an IW title?

But well, it's hard to make a pick. Nobody seems super primed to take it, maybe there will be an unexpected winner this time.

Lol Osaka is not the player to beat, just look at her losses in the past year, she just crumbles to anyone who doesn't give her errors. She had to beat some injured Svitolina/Pliskova at AO and everyone acts like she beat Jesus.
