It's been 8 years since Justine Henin retired for good

Here we go again. One of the darkest days in tennis history.

On 26 January 2011, the girl with the most beautiful one-handed backhand decided to leave tennis for good.

Is anyone still missing her? Is there anyone who'd like her to come back to tennis? I'd want her to comeback and snatch the Wimbledon trophy:grin2: and see how she handles the top players today.

Yes, she joined in 2016.

I certainly miss her playing style, she was also one of the mentally toughest players from the last 20 years and the only player that could send Serena packing in slams consistently, story might be quite different if she was a bit more healthy

Injuries played a part but I am not sure she would have been completely content. She had the game to win Wimbledon for instance. However, after being away for so long I recall in 2010 thinking that her game looked just a bit off the pace, we have to remember how little she was and how hard she had to work to compete with stronger taller players, it takes its toll in the end, and it did.

The fact that Smashnova has a win over her is my fave stay of hers. And as a top10 player no less.

Ouch :SNE:

I am pretty sure that there were many people who were happy about Henin retirement though :oh:

Here we go again. One of the darkest most splendid great amazing days where a perennial cheater and sore loser finally left the game in tennis history.

On 26 January 2011, the girl with the most beautiful one-handed backhand ugly cheating tactics and sore loser mentality decided to leave tennis for good.

Is anyone still missing her at all? No. Is there anyone who'd like her to come back to tennis? Of course not. I'd want her to comeback and snatch the Wimbledon trophy:grin2: and see how she handles the top players today just to watch her get double bagelled by Bouchard.
Fixed it for you. :wavey: :)

I was a casual viewer of women’s tennis back in Henin’s days. Me and my friend enjoyed watching her play in GS; it was all about her. One day, my friend started calling Henin “the little hound”- we laughed. That’s the most cheerful and agreeable thing between us.

After Henin retired, we stopped watching tennis. I didn’t see any player capable of replacing her. I didn’t like the feeling of missing her while watching others play. I think my friend felt the same and there was no talk of tennis between us anymore.

Life without tennis isn’t hard if you find no reason for it, and as years have passed you forgot about it. But time, like tides rolling through the ocean, takes away your cherished seashells to leave you with new ones on the shore when you least expect it. It happened when I came across the games of Hsieh and Halep AO 2018.

That’s why I’m here now.:) As for my friend, she’s gone, along with Henin.

I choked on this cheap metaphor.
