Good for her, nice to see a young player being so proactive about wanting to make a difference and not just worry about the next shopping trip.

Yeah, praising Keys for standing up against cyber-bullying, by cyber-bullying other players for their preferences is quite classy.

Having said that, it's a quite important topic that needs to be discussed. Urgently.

Re: Madison Keys Takes a Stand Against Cyber-Bullying in Tennis

isn't a big problem , there are many betters on the world...

The offenses isn't really to the players

And its easy to blame a player like Madison Keys who have a lazy footwork and isn't smart playing ... and some bettors dont understand that... just it

No one forces people to bet, and certainly not to bet on players they know nothing about. Their fault not the players' fault at all.

Also, fun fact, the ones she read out in that promo are rather tame because the really disturbing stuff probably wouldn't get aired on TV. Last week in Miami, one of them told her he wishes she gets AIDS, she was also told to kill herself several times etc.

All totally normal, right?

Re: Madison Keys Takes a Stand Against Cyber-Bullying in Tennis

Bullying is bad, cyber-bullying especially, but when you decide to live life in the public eye, in a realm that involves sports betting, that just comes with the territory. It's up to her to decide how she responds to it, or not respond to it. For whatever reason she's more affected by it than others, but there are things she can do about it. Like ignoring. Or turning off her notifications. Or customizing her notifications.

I think speaking out AND doing those things would be the best bet for her (definitely not just speaking out), because it is really becoming a distraction at this point professionally

Who cares whether the accounts are fake? What difference does that make?

It dosen't matter who these people are or what their motivation supposedly is, none of this is acceptable.

And the players obviously care a lot, we have several who have shied away from social media already because they can't take the abuse, especially not in this massive form. It's not one or two people saying this, they get bombarded with messages after losses.

All sane fans should be offended about this, because in the end it will rob fans of this unique access to their favorite players. What Madison does takes a lot of strength and courage and most players will probably not try to fight this battle but just either stop being on social media altogether or just use it in a purely PR-driven way that robs it of any authenticity. In the end, these people ruin it for everyone.

Obvious she have to costumize the comments if she can't lead with that...

Oh yeah, the good old "celebrities don't deserve any privacy/dignity because they're rich" argument. It will never be true, just because someone is famous or rich does not give you the right to abuse them at will.

You're missing the point, she's not going down this route to fix this for herself but to attract attention to the global problem. Turning off her notifications will do nothing for others that get abused.

You have to lead with that... , if you dont wanna attention dont call for that...

If you don't have too much expose... be a Federer , Nadal or Goffin

If you want attention be a Kyrgios , Tomic , etc

Blocking the comments does not fix the issue, at all.

And bs on the excuses comment, she has never even remotely tried to bring this up as an explanation for her losses. Just because you disagree with the way she plays tennis does not mean it's cool to attack her. You're constantly trying to find excuses for misbehavior.

When has Madison ever "called for attention" before this? She has done nothing to provoke these reactions so don't try to rationalize this.
