Wimbledon F: (3) Hsieh/Strycova def. (4) Dabrowski/Xu 6-2, 6-4

Peak Hsieh on full display today

Those lobs, dropshots, angles she had such a fun time lobbing Xu today lol.

Barbie played her part in a very entertaining final.

They completely confused and flummoxed Dabrowski/Xu in the first set, they had no answers to the creativity from Su-wei in particular.

In the 2nd they did very well to keep the scoreline close but ultimately there were too many easy errors from Dabrowski and her inability to finish points really costed her team in the end. Xu was legit carrying Gaby for 80% of the match.

Still, I felt the result was NID. Hsieh and Strycova just looked a class above from the very first point.

Barbie is now world #1 in doubles!! 1st GS doubles title for her and 3rd one for Su-wei (who is also 3-0 in GS doubles finals).

Hsieh is a legend.

Xu did really well defending all those lobs much better in the second set IMO.

Congrats Bara on the nº1! On her first GS final AND title!

Congrats Barbora and Su-Wei! I am really happy for them. I think they can win more Slams in the future.

Congrats to Xu and Dabrowski for the great two weeks. I was watching them today for the 1st time. Everyone is saying that Dabrowski is better than Xu, but today Xu was playing so much better. Dabrowski was not playing good at net at all. She was probably too nervous.

Woo hoo! So happy for Barbora and Su-wei. They were too strong and showed too much variety. Strycova has to be overall player of the tournament! Doubles winner, singles SF! Very happy for her to be doubles #1

One of the most entertaining teams ever, the shots they create area joy to the eyes.

So deserved this win! And so happy for Barbora, these that have showed their commitment to doubles during their whole career no matter how good they were doing in singles... She always showed love and respect to this discipline, I started following her with Benesova... Trully deserved #1!!

Holefully they can share the #1 as a team soon 😍

Amazing tournament - no sets lost for this pairing. Absolutely delighted for Hsieh and Strycova, particularly the latter. I can't tell if this tournament will convince her to keep going or if it will provoke an early retirement on her finest moment. It'll be a shame if she goes now, because her and Hsieh can do a lot more together.

Dabrowski and Xu actually looked quite threatening at the end of the second set, so I'm very relieved that Hsieh managed to serve it out!

Crazy good tournament for Barbie when you consider that she was a singles semifinalist and also won doubles with Hsieh.
Congrats to both!

Fair to say Gaby loked the most nervous out there by some way.She will no doubt wake up tomorrow hoping that was all a bad dream.

But so delighted for Babs. What an amazing tournament. And Sui Wei of course best doubles player this match and this tournament.

Re: Wimbledon F: (3) Hsieh/Strycova def. (4) Dabrowski/Xu 6-2, 6-4

MY QUEENS!!! I'm so happy!

Su Wei was STAGGERING today! Used her full arsenal, and never really got 'too cute' like she sometimes can in singles... she gave so much for the highlight reel. A deserving 3rd grand slam title for her.

Barbie was very consistent and aggressive (outside of an error-strewn game or two). She was relentless, constantly looking to attack. In many of their matches this week she was the star player, and while Hsieh was more impressive today, I think it's her endless fight, energy and encouragement that makes her partner play even better.

Dabrowski was having an extremely rough day at the office. Her often strong overheads were disastrous, and in the second set you could tell she got into her head a bit too much. Julie was doing the best she could and got some great gets on the run, but just too vulnerable to Hsieh's perfect lobs today. Still a good week for them, and they haven't had many this past year.

Babs #1!!! This has been the best two weeks of her entire tennis life. What an amazing Wimbledon to have at the age of 33. Hopefully she can inspire Su to have a SF (or better) run in the singles as well.
