Kim in Filderstadt

Hey, is Kim playing in Filderstadt or not, next week?
I know she's committed to it, but with the injury, she's in serious doubt of taking part now.

Any news yet?

Come on, Kimmeke

Check out the latest diary entry: she wasn't sure yet yesterday. She'd decide after today's training...

Reading what she wrote about yesterdays training, I think it would be wise not to play. After all, health comes first!

Yeah, after reading her diary I think it would be wise to sit out another week.
Still I don't want to see Justine no.1 but she could always lose in the first round
In the end it would be better for Kim to recover fully and lose no. 1 place.

We will miss you Kim!.

Best of Luck in 2007 to: Kim & Bryan, Lleyton, Alicia, Todd, Sam, Chris, Casey, Wayne, Kirsten & all the other Aussies & injured players.

Kim changed her last diary entry a bit: she's going to Filderstadt, since the ankle is doing better. She only has to play thursday, and she'll decide then if she'll play or not.

The draw's been made and Kim's sucks

She ofcourse has a bye in round 1 and then round 2 hantuchova, under normal circumstances I wouldn't think Daniela would be that tough for Kim but Kim hasn't practiced since Leipzig, and Dani has been getting better in her form and I'm sure has been practicing over the past week.

If hse gets by Hantuchova it will be probably Mauresmo, then Capriati and if by chance she make sthe final any of Myskina, Davenport, Henin or Dementieva.

But Kim undoubtedly got the worst draw, well Maybe Rubins is worse she got Zvonareva in round 1

If Kim's ankle is Ok, I thhink she'll be fine. Daniela can't win a big match to save her life right now. That gives Kim a match to warm-up.

If Kim plays, go Kimmie!! She'll wouldn't have much problems against Daniela if her ankle's fine...
We'll support Kim's decision no matter what it is!

Here's some articles...
I don't understand why Kimmie still thinks Serena's the best...
Clijsters: Serena still the best

Porsche Grand Prix, Filderstadt

Kim Clijsters insists Serena Williams is the true world number one, despite the Belgian having held top spot since early August.

Clijsters is expected to take on Daniela Hantuchova in the first round on Wednesday despite a recent ankle injury.

And although she could lose her number one ranking to compatriot Justine Henin-Hardenne this week, Clijsters believes the younger Williams sister is the best player in the world.

"If she was injury-free she's the toughest to beat out there," said Clijsters. "If Serena played the number of tournaments that I play I definitely think that she would be number one."

And Clijsters again dismissed suggestions that she and Henin-Hardenne do not get on.

"We're colleagues and friends, a combination, and it doesn't matter if we're playing against each other," said Clijsters.

We play to win, but then we get back in the locker room after the match and we're talking. That's what it should be all about. We're rivals on the court, but you can be friends too."

Clijsters risks ankle for ranking
From corresponents in Filderstadt, Germany
October 7, 2003

WORLD No.1 Kim Clijsters said today the ankle injury she sustained last month is recovering as she puts her ranking on the line in the WTA tournament here this week.

"I am not 100 per cent in shape, but the ankle gets better every day," she said.

"It will be alright when it is strapped, so if nothing else happens to me, I will play."

The Belgian was forced to retire during her semi-final with Anastasia Myskina in the Leipzig tournament on September 27 after twisting her ankle three days before the match when walking out of the players' lounge.

She has not played since and stands a real chance of losing her top ranking if she performs badly in the $650,000 tournament.

Her rival and fellow Belgian, Justine Henin-Hardenne, ranked second, must reach the final and hope Clijsters does not in order to dethrone her from the No.1 spot.

If Clijsters also makes the final, Henin-Hardenne must beat her.

The prospect does not faze Clijsters despite her defeats to Henin-Hardenne in the finals of the French and US Opens this year, and the controversy over accusations by Clijsters' camp that Henin-Hardenne used performance-enhancing drugs, claims that were hastily retracted.

"We have good relations with Justine," said Clijsters. "It's a mix of friendship, team spirit and respect. We often joke together."

As top seed, Clijsters will probably not play her first match until Thursday when she is likely to face Slovakia's Daniela Hantuchova who meets a qualifier in the first round.

Here's an interview with Kim in Filderstadt (from Daily Telegraph UK):-

Belgians battling for No 1
By Barry Wood in Filderstadt (Filed: 07/10/2003)

Justine Henin-Hardenne, whose improved physical ability has been questioned by the father of her Belgian rival Kim Clijsters, insists that she has still not reached her peak.

"What I've done this year was a little bit of a surprise, but after the work I did last December I said that everything was possible," Henin-Hardenne said yesterday. "But I think maybe I will not reach 100 per cent of my physical possibility until the end of next year."

The 21-year-old world No 2 could this week take over the No 1 ranking from Clijsters, whom she beat in the final of both the French and US opens.

Assuming both play the highest ranked possible opponents en route at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix, Henin-Hardenne will become No 1 if she reaches the final and Clijsters does not. If both reach the final, the winner will be No 1.

Meanwhile, Clijsters has credited her boyfriend, Lleyton Hewitt, for inspiring her elevation to No 1.

"Practising with him has played a part in me getting to No 1, for sure," the defending champion said. "Not only practising with him, but I love watching his matches and his fighting spirit. That's probably been the biggest thing, his motivation and seeing how much he cares for the sport."

Aw shucks!

Kim will play Hantuchova in the second round. Hantuchova beat Raymond in straight sets - I am worried about this match for Kim. Kim hasn't practiced much and Hantuchova has already had a match and reportedly played well and served well.

Good Luck to Kim

If Kim can display the kind of guts she saw Lleyton display in coming back from 2 sets and a break down to beat Federer a few weeks ago, she will win her first major.
