Sorry, but I hope Kim remains Belgian. I don't think she could change now, given the fact she's played for the Belgian FED CUP team.

She could change she'd just have to sit out fed cup competition for 2 years.

But in saying that, I would prefer her to stay belgian, I am an aussie and understand it would be fantastic for Australian Womens tennis but also realise the huge investments flemish tennis have put into Kim. Remember when Dokic left Australia and how Australia reacted now if Australia were to try and pouch Kim I would consider that very contradictory, given their comments and so forth about Dokic's abandonment. Also tennis australia understand how it is to lose a player they have invested so much in, so can't see them pouching Kim knowing how they felt when they lost dokic.

I think she will eventually obtain australian citizenship as it will be easier for her, but expect her to keep her belgian and european citizenships and play for Belgium. I don't think she will play Fed Cup next year, but remain representing Belgium.

Scuse me, but you Aussies have pinched your "Oi Oi Oi" chant from the Welsh!! Max Boyce invented it in the 70s. Think up your own chants!!!!

Surely Kim will only become an Aussie citizen if she marries Lleyton? As they arent even engaged yet isnt all this talk is a bit premature?

Having said that, I can understand your anxiety for Kim to become an Aussie if you are Australian. I just wish she'd fallen for a Brit, so we could have at least one decent female tennis player!!!

That is our own chant, I really don't think the welsh went aussie aussie aussie oi oi oi - and besides we don't need to think of nay chants cause we aussies are zee best supporters in the world, with or without original chants - just ask Kim about her DC experiences talking about chants the fanatics have heaps

Beg to differ mate!! The Oi Oi Oi chant is WELSH, invented in the 1970s by Max Boyce, Welsh Poet and Musician and spiritual leader of the Welsh Rugby Team when they were the best in the world!!

The full chant as used in Wales is "Oggie Oggie Oggie Oi Oi Oi" and I AM TELLING YOU ITS BLOODY WELSH OK and has been used here since the 1970s!!!!!

You Aussies probably nicked it from us Welsh when you came over to Wales for the Rugby World Cup in 1999 and heard the Welsh supporters using it (and in return the Aussie supporters left us with the fucking Sydney flu - which I caught - thanks).

Sorry, but if you are going to claim to own the "oi oi oi" chant, you will have to prove to me that it was used in Australia prior to the mid 1970s.

SO BLOODY THERE!!!!

Dont upset me - I'm coming to Aussie Land in January 2004!!!!

Jesus calm down

my point is we didn't steal it from the welsh as they never said aussie aussie aussie oi oi oi they said whatever you said. And we did not nick it in 1999 as we used it long before that. i can not offer any proof it was used in australia or by australians in the 70's as I am not that old and really couldn't care less, cause I and the rest of australia now it is in aussie folklore and commonly used at every major sporting event in which australia competes.

Oh and if you are coming to australia, you better get used to it being considered aussie, as well it is in australia and if you go around telling people its welsh when they will really upset you!

I never claimed to own the chant but don't get so upset, 'you aussies nicked it' yeah that is a really nice thing to say. left us with the fucking flu' again so nice

who really cares who started, its ours now! it just sounds so uch better aussie aussie aussie not oggie oggie oggie and besides we use it alot more cause we always win!!! dont see the welsh winning that much do u? and why would it be so strange kim becoming australian lots of other tennis players have done the same, navrat, seles theve both gone to the usa wats the difference?
plus i think people should lay off about kim not winning a grand slam and that she shouldnt be number one, hello its about how many points you make by being consistent not how many slams she wins. and dont worry its just a matter of time anyway......

I love Australia with all my heart, but I completly understand that Kim is Belgian and even if she were to marry Lleyton today she would still play under the Belgian flag. Its her home.
