Well good luck to her. She will still have a week off before the US Open and I guess we have to trust her and her coach that they know how many matches she can play before getting too tired.
I reckon she'll be alright - and at the moment she's playing great. She wouldn't have entered Toronto if they didn't think she could manage it.

While Kim definitely is looking tired, it was as recently as 1998 that Lindsay Davenport played 4 warmup events and went on to win the U.S. Open It's definitely possible, especially with Serena and Jennifer out of the Open, and Venus and Amelie being in questionable form because of injuries.

They probably know what they're doing...she won't play if she's not 100% fit...but there is also the tiredness that creeps into her body and is lethal for her game ....she did run out of gas at the French Open I think....she didn't play well there at all imo....she was fit...but physicly and even more mentally tired....I just hope they keep that in mind when they make plans after todays final

Her coach said he wouldn't mind if she lost early this week, because then she would have more rest before the US Open. I can understand his comment, but why is she playing this tournemant when even her coach thinks she needs some rest. An early loss wouldn't effect her ranking, but she would be considered less consistent.

Do we know yet when she will play her first match? I can't decide if Tuesday or Wednesday is better. A Wednesday start gives her 2 full days of rest before starting the tournament, but a Tuesday start means she doesn't have to play 5 days in a row (if she makes the final).

Let's not worry too much about Kim playing so many matches! I bet she had an enormous mental energy boost, becoming number 1 in the world!

In her web site diary, she writes that today will be a long day because she is traveling to Toronto all day. So I can't imagine that they would have her play the very next day without the chance to train once there. Then again, you never know.

Well I think it's all up to Kim herself. She can decide whether her body can be fit enough for US open. She definitely knows how many matches she'll play to not run out of gas for US open. I think Kim is taking the US open seriously so she'll decide it carefully. I would respect and support her decision no matter what it is. It's not one of her worries I think. But for me, I really wanted her to win US open so badly...

I actually think the better thing would be to not play doubles at the Open. What is going to make the Open tough isn't this 4 weeks of play, it's that Kim won't have a day off the entire Open (assuming she does well in singles and doubles).

If she didn't play the doubles there, then she could have a day off every other day...

I don't think Kim will let Ai down and withdraw from the doubles though...
But it might be a wise thing to do. At least she's not playing doubles this week.
