Hey Everyone :wavey:
you can probably tell that im not the usual poster here, as i am always atthe Cocktail Party... but a person can have more than one fave players right?! haaha

anyways... im jus here to tell you my experience with getting to have a chat with Kim up close and personal!... i won a conest on SanexHeros [www.sanexheros.com] to go to RG and meet Kim Clijsters.

it was on Thursday that i got to speak with Kim. She finished her match and was doing an autograph session for the fans. Stephan [the Sanex Representative] said i would get to meet Kim after the session... i was pretty damn nevrous! i didnt kno what to say or do!

after the session, Stephane told me to come up.. at that point my heart was beating so fast! i was seriously very nervous! when i got up there.. Kim smiled and said Hi!.. we talked for a while.. i have to say Kim is such a down-to-earth person! she is SERIOUSLY VERY nice and humble. we actually had a coversation going on! and i actually forgot i was talking to Kim! she made me feel comfortable and relaxed.. we joked for a while and took pictures.. i have pictures which i will ahve to develop and scann.... so keep an eye out at the GM forum! we talked about RG and herself... a lil bit of Llyeton.. we talked about Toronto [where im from]... it was realli nice... she signed my t-shirt and we said goodbye.. i wished her luck adn congratulated her on her win.. and she said Thanks!... it was an unbelieveable experience which i will never forget!

there will be a more detailed report about my Trip on the GM board pretty soon.. and also on the Sanex site... well thanks for hearing me out.. and Good Luck Kim at RG!

Well I'm still wondering why Kim wasn't that nice to me
Yeah, I read your report in GM at the time... and frankly, I was thinking: that's Fleem for ya, she loathes Kim so much she can't even see how really friendly she is... :p.

Seriously: don't you think Kim (or her entourage) has a look around our little WTAworld from time to time? All those hours waiting... and as far as I know Kim likes surfing the net.

Don't you think it's quite possible she actually knew who you were?

Well I can asure you guys that there was nothing wrong with me :eek:

But beauty ... were you alone or were there other persons arround you? Justin wonna know it :)

Well I had 2 meetings with Kim and both weren't that super incredible so :(

Fleem, can you post a bit about your meeting with Kim? Or post the link to your report? For some reason I never read your report when it was first posted

Ok, I've never reacted like this before, but there has to be a first time for everything. So here:

Angèle - please don't pay attention to Fleem's ramblings about Kim! She just doesn't like Kim - in fact, she can't handle the simple truth that Kim is a better tennisplayer than Justine at the moment. ;) :)

Look at what she answered in the thread "Which player are you hoping doesn't win the french open?" - that says it all.

Die-hard Justine fans rather have Kim brake a leg than win a tournament Justine is playing in too. They're haters in the true sense of the word . Per4ever for instance (who also expresses his hope Kim won't win RG), is always cheering for Kim's opponent, whoever that might be. He even doesn't have to like that other player... Haters, I tell you! :p

In the opinion of those rabit Juju'ers:
  • Kim always has easy draws (errr... "catwalks", to use leslie's words :D).
  • Kim always gets more coverage from the Belgian tv (not so: Flemish tv didn't even show the second set of Kim's QF, while Justine's match was shown in full. There are other examples.)
  • if Kim wins, her opponent was handing her the match
  • if Kim is not feeling well (like in Antwerp) but still wins from Justine, she must have been faking it

Again:

I've never reacted before, but if Fleem comes in our very own Lounge shredding doubt about Kimmie's sweet disposition, I won't stand by and let her - there! ;)
(She'll have some serious fleming to do to make up for it!)

This is the site where fleemke was reporting her meeting with Kim, btw: "my pictures of Rome". (There is not much about Kim, though...)

Whoops...Looks like you really pissed somebody off Fleem :D .

Don't let it get to you Mark, overhere we all know what an  Kim is ;) .

She is soo sweet. And to all those who says she isn't nice or down to earth. At Hopman Cup, she was on the practice courts & was signing autographs for me & my sister & a few other people were there. And she was really nice, she thanked someone for letting them u and sse her pen & we said to her have a nice time at the ball (it was the day of the ball) and she said thankyou. Now that's nice in my book.
Kim signed autographs for every-one who was waiting (that was probably about 50-60 people) & no-one else that I saw did that. They only signed a few. I was impressed.
To fleemke, maybe Kim could tell you weren't a big fan ;)

Well if you guys don't except what my experiences are with Kim so be it and Lynx what wrong with a Justine fan who want that she is the first winner of a GS in Belgium  ?

Many of you Kim-fans don't accept anything what could be a little bit negative about Kim :rolleys: No I'm sorry she isn't that perfect :rolleys:

Well if you wonna know Kim didn't say anything, well she said hi, ... the only person who was friendly was her mom

When Kim saw me after the match against Ruano-Pasqual she waved to me as crazy that why I asked if there were other persons arround. Because i had the feeling that she acts more friendly if there are people arround. Hey that's just my experience with Kim so please don't shoot me

And just for the record .. I DON'T WANT KIM TO BREAK HER LEGGS  Lynx I was even supporting her in Rome  ask Baico if you don't believe me.

#36 ·
Never mind Fleemke, of course you're entitled to your own opinion.

And who knows...perhaps you met Kim when she was in a bad mood (after all she's only human  :) ).

But I do find it strange that you'd prefer Serena or Nadia, both of whom you have no particular regard for, to win RG over Kim, just because Juju would be the first Belgian GS winner. It's such a negative attitude  .
I hope Kim wins, but I'd also be very happy for Justine if she did...
I just hope they both win as much Grand Slams as possible in the future :) .

#37 ·
Maybe she was having an off day
I'm glad you don't want her to break her legs & remember guys, its not 100% any Belgian will be winning FO. But I do think Justine & Kim both have fairly good chances but Justine will have to beat Serena in semis whereas Kim won't meet her till finals (if at all) therefore I don't rate Justines chances quite as high as Kim's (especially after Serena & Amelie's match last night). ;)

Fleemke, you're not a Kim fan so of course there are going to be things you don't like about her. But what reaction do you really expect when you, as an avowed Justine fan, post not-so-nice things about Kim in a forum for Kim fans?

There is nothing wrong with people rooting for someone other than Kim to win the FO. However, I'd rather not deal with them in a thread that is intended for Kim fans to hang out. I'll deal with all the Kim questioning and bashing in GM ;)

#39 ·
I don't have anything against Kim! What bothers me is the whole media attention (ok it's less now) arround Kim but that's not Kim's fault I know. I'm sorry too that I don't like Kim's gameplay it's my opinion .. take it or leave it.
I said somewhere that I think Nadia has a good chance against Kim is that something wrong?

Well maybe Kim had a bad day but in Antwerp last year she also wasn't that nice.

Why does everybody thinks that when I tell my story about Kim and me I only wonna tell bad things about her? Sorry but if Kim after a signingsessions doesn't wonna make +/- 15 kids happy with a picture and leaves the room well I don't like that and I don't care if it's Kim or Justine.

And Nicky if everybody is honnest to him or herself .. well you must admitt that every Belgian Kim-fan wants Kim to be the first one and every Belgian Justine-fan wants the same for Justine. That I call is being a fan off some player.

If everybody here is so narrow-minded well I won't post here anymore and believe me .. you guys probably won't miss me but I think it's said that I got angry reactios just by telling my experience :(

I agree with Pinkie!! ;)
This is a Kim fan forum afterall.
Its just like if I went into the Serena forum & posted un nice things about her, I would expect abuse from all those in the forum. It's natural instinct ;)

Hey fleemke²  - I wasn't really mad at you, couldn't you tell? Not really. That's why I used ;) a lot. I was mad at Nemesis months ago - remember? Now THAT was me being mad... - I didn't tell you to crawl back under the stone you came from. :)

  • about accepting your experiences with Kim: everybody - but really everybody without exception (even people who aren't fans to begin with) who has met Kim and reported back about it has the same story. So nice. So accessible. So friendly. So down-to-earth. Only you have another story. Twice.
    Now I'm not saying you're lying - I don't believe you would.
I AM saying, however, that you must be biased. I'm convinced you approach Kim with such a dislike/distrust that you can't/won't see or accept her for what she is: an uncomplicated, happy, sunny girl. In all those months I've been roaming WTAworld I have seen you suggest several times that Kim isn't the person she seems to be. You have been suggesting (like you did here) that she is playing a part, that she really is a - what exactly? Not as nice as people think.
Why, for heavens sake, would you go to all that trouble?
You must really, really dislike her...
    .
  • a Justine fan who wants Justine to win a GS... there's nothing wrong with that. A Justine fan who wants Justine to be the first Belgian winner of a GS... that's a whole other matter. Why would she have to be the first Belgian? I really, really, really wouldn't care if Justine was the first to win a Slam... I'd like Kim to win, of course: I'm a fan... but if not Kim, I'd like Justine to win. THAT'S NOT WHAT YOU'RE SAYING. For you (to use your own words) "Justine must be the first Belgian". So if Justine loses to Serena tomorrow, you're gonna hope Kim doesn't win. Why, oh why?
You must really, really dislike her...
    .
  • breaking a leg was a figure of speech. And I was talking about "all rabid Juju-fans" (you're not THAT rabid - I know others). Still, you'd like to see her lose to Nadia, wouldn't you? To use Carot's words from a little while ago: "almost every Belgian in GM is hoping Kim will lose to Nadia". I think that included you, no?
You must really, but really dislike her...
    .

I don't have to ask baico if you were or weren't cheering for Kim in Rome. I believe you.
The question is: would you have been cheering if Justine was playing in Rome too?

Sorry Fleemke, don't agree. I'm just not die-hard fan enough I guess.
I want Kim to win yes, but if she can't make it, I'd rather have Justine lift that trophy than Serena or Nadya. And for being the first Slam winner; if I were to know that Kim would win Wimbledon next month, I'd love for Justine to win this one. I actually prefer Kim and Justine to have similar results, so that there isn't too much tension between both sides...
Doesn't this make me a perfect Belgian  ;) ?

Hm, re-reading my previous post, that's a whole lot of "really's", really. Sorry about that.

And I agree with Pinkie: you don't go insulting people in their own house. That's not called "narrow-minded", that is called "expecting politeness".

Fleem: everybody has had the chance to read your report in GM. I didn't react to that, did I? Nobody actually shot you, did we? So why come here to try and discredit beauty's report?

You must, errr, really, really dislike Kim... :p

Hm - I'm not as perfect as a Belgian as Nicky here, but like I said before, if not Kim, I also would like to see Justine "lift that trophy".
And if Kim could win Wimbledon, Justine can have RG :) ;).

Splendid arrangement, Nicky! :D
(I wonder what Serena would have to say about that, though...)

Well if we just imagine that I'm not honest about my meeting with Kim in Rome ... How do you explain the Antwerp thing than?

Is it nice that she doens't wonna take a picture with +/- 15 kids who were waiting patiently at one site of the room? She didn't had to play, she was injured, and it wouldn't take more than 5 min to do the job! Well I was dissappointed in her espacilly when you saw the kids faces!

I will alway cheer for Kim but
1. I just want Justine to be the first winner of a GS, only because off the press (see previous reply)
2. except when she's playing against Justine

And weel there are some peolpe who don't mind if it's Kim or Justine who wins it first but there are a lot of Kim-fans who think the same way as I do ;)

For me the case is closed

Fleem gave me a negative rep for reacting in this thread - how do you like that!!

She can come in our Lounge and diss Kim... but if you react she's gonna rate you negatively. She's quite a hater, allright - much more than I thought!

(And maybe the fact that I'm actually gaining on her in the ratings played a part also? You never know with those small-minded people...)

Um...okay. You know what? Some people don't like Kim. Everyone's entitled to their own opinion. Kim is, by all accounts, a lovely person, but I'm sure she has times when she is less than gracious--we all do. I'm sure if I were constantly surrounded by people demanding autographs and photos and interviews and whatnot, I'd have times when I handled it badly. No one's perfect all the time.
My opinion? Well, when I met Kim at the US Open she was sweet as sugar. And let me tell you, there were some players there whose manners towards the fans I was NOT impressed with.
But maybe it's time to let the whole thing go and concentrate on the original topic of this thread--one person's positive experience?
