Don't know what to expect from Kim here

Too bad she isn't playing in Eastbourne though. I have a feeling she'll be more focused now that both WS are back.

I'm not so sure about that. She's more likely to get several matches under her belt in Rosmalen, and I think she needs that. The draw in Eastbourne is so packed she'd have to be top level from match one, and I sincerely doubt she will be...

Her best matches in 2011 were played against Zvonareva and Safina IMO, matches in which Kim was more patient, like she felt she could lose that time.

Re: Rosmalen - Unicef Open

What a mess

She better step it up quickly, otherwise I don't really think she'll have a good run Wimbledon, let alone winning the whole thing...

Gonna quote Filip Dewulf on this: 'Monica Niculescu must have the ugliest game in the history of women's tennis. But I still wouldn't like to play against her.'

Re: Rosmalen - Unicef Open

At least she did not double fault.

I saw this on Twitter. Clijsters: 'The Olympics will be the last big focus in my career, but of course the US Open is only a few weeks after that, so we'll see..'

Re: Rosmalen - Unicef Open

I went to Rosmalen today
so I got to see Kim play afterall it was getting a bit scary because dark clouds started coming right before Kim's match, but fortunately, a few rain drops aside, it stayed dry!

saw Kim warm up for about half an hour and then her match
it wasn't great, but I cannot agree more: Niculescu's game is sooo ugly! she doesn't hit two balls the same way, slices almost everything, even when she is in the perfect position to hit a really great winnershot, she hits a lame slice down the middle! I can imagine Kim hitting her off the court in no time on hard court, but on grass those forehand slices stay so low to the ground, anything can happen with them!
Some nice flashes from Kim, but also some mistakes, but not that bad for a first match on grass and against this player

btw, Kim's mom, Els, was there with her parents today! It must have been quite some time since Els came to watch Kim I think!

some pics to follow

Re: Rosmalen - Unicef Open

Yeah... looks like Clijsters is packing it in and heading to Wimbledon. Hopefully she'll get a lot of practice in there for the tournament. Its what counts!

But I can't help but be a little worried... Clijsters hasn't played decent all year pretty much. She won in Melbourne which was great but since then... hasn't done much at all. Its like a throw away year so far. Hopefully the stretch between Wimby-US Open changes all that.
