Your ideal 2011 schedule for Kim

I got the idea from Justine's forum where people posted their fantasy schedule for her in 2011. I know all of us fans probably should not be thinking about the 2011 season in any shape & form, but I thought it would be fun

Here is the link to the 2011 WTA calendar:
http://www.wtatour.com/SEWTATour-Arc...endar_2011.pdf

Now another thing is Kim will be a Top 10 player when she starts out 2011, so she will have to commit to a certain number of tournaments - 4 PMs, 4 P5s & 2 P700s. She can only play 2 IS events a year, only one for each half of the season (Pre-Wimby & Post-Wimby). I also retrieved this post from another poster about the Top 10 rule (credit to Lenny_DH): "Because if she doesn't commit at the beginning of the year, the disadvantages are greater than just paying a fine. For example, she can't ask a wildcard for any tournament during the whole year. Only if a Top 10 player is 30 years of age at the start of the season, she can choose to drop the commitment tournaments."

So you can do the schedule according to her commitments as a Top 10 player or just what you think is best for her

Re: Your ideal 2011 schedule for Kim

I had a quick look, and that top 10 rule is going to be difficult for Kim I'm afraid...
But if I had to make a schedule, it would probably be like this:

Sydney
AO
*Fed Cup
Dubai
Indian Wells
Miami
*Fed Cup
Stuttgart
Madrid
Rome/Brussels (think she will want to play Brussels though)
RG
Eastbourne
Wimbledon
San Diego
Toronto
US Open
Tokyo
Beijing
YEC Istanbul
*Fed Cup Final!

Thank you! KIM CLIJSTERS FOR EVER MY NUMBER 1

Re: Your ideal 2011 schedule for Kim

Sydney
Australian Open
Fed Cup
Doha
Indian Wells
Miami
Fed Cup (if Belgium go that far)
Madrid
Rome
Roland Garros
Eastbourne
Wimbledon
Stanford
Toronto
Cincinnati
US Open
Tokyo
Beijing
Tour Championships
Fed Cup (if Belgium go that far)

Oh & I hate that stupid rule where only 1 Top 10 player can play an IS event, hence no Brisbane

I just want Kim to play 's Hertogenbosch

She played this tournament from 2000-2003. I would love to see her there again next year '

Don't think that is going to happen though

^^
Almost, except you missed one more P700 tourney. But you can leave it like that if you want.

Sydney
AO

IW
Miami

Madrid
Rome
Roland Garros

Eastbourne
Wimbledon

Stanford
Toronto
Cincinati
US Open

Tokyo
Beijing

Istambul

4 Grand Slams + 4 Premier Mandatory + 4 Premier 5 (all of them minus Dubai) + 3 p700 (Sydney + Eastbourne + Stanford)

I don't think she will play Dubai and/or Doha... she just doesn't like traveling too far...

I think her best schedule for the clay season is just to play Madrid and Rome... and considering that she has to play 4 out of 5 Premier 5, the most logical thing is to play Rome, Toronto, Cincy and Tokyo... (Tokyo since she has to play Beijing....)... and not to play Dubai...

Sydney and Eastbourne are Premier 600 tourneys. Only Doha, Charleston, Stuttgart, Stanford and San Diego are Premier 700 tournaments. Kim has to choose two from these five. If she doesn't want to go to the Middle East next year, best choice for her would be Stuttgart along with Stanford.

Yes, I agree with that... choosing Stuttgart and Stanford would be the best for her...

But one interesting thing is what her best CLAY schedule could be:

She has to play Madrid... and I think she should play Rome... since she can skip only Premier 5 event... and Dubai would be the most logical...

But on the other hand, I don't think she would be willing to play Stugart, Rome and Madrid... (and there's Bruxelles too.... she may want to play it...)

Yes, a very busy clay schedule would be the disadvantage of not going to the Middle East. It's been said that Kim won't play Brussels due to an overloaded calendar, so maybe she was alluding on the fact she already has so many clay preparation tourneys to play.

Four tournaments on clay, this seems a lot for the program of Kim. So I think she must choose between Madrid and Rome.

Eastbourne
Wimbledon

Stanford
Toronto
Cincinati
US Open

Tokyo
Beijing

Istambul

+ Fed up, but I'm not sure that Kim will play the first round.

Yes, as you say, Kim does not like traveling. So I think she will not go to Doha or Dubai. But as she must choose two Premier 700 tournaments, I think she will choose Stuttgart and Stanford. As I said in another topic, in 2007, Kim said her doctors had advised her not to play 3 tournaments in a row (especially those on clay).

If Kim does like last year, before IW, she'll take some days off in Brian's family ;-)

Re: Your ideal 2011 schedule for Kim

I would definitely like her to give a shot at Beijing because she doesn't have any title in Asia.

She won in:
- Luxembourg
- Australia
- Germany
- USA
- Italy
- Netherlands
- France
- Belgium
- Great Britain
- Canada
- Poland
- Qatar

So that's 12 countries. It would be fun to add a few more countries to that collection. So, she has to play in Spain, China, Turkey and maybe Japan.
