Miami: news, articles, etc

Let's start off with some Kim news from Miami...

Quote:
Not Clijsters' problem

Clijsters was on court Sunday for her first practice session and declared herself fit and recovered from her recent foot injury. She had a hard, one-hour workout and she made it clear, once again, that she plans to retire after either this year or next.

Asked about WTA CEO Larry Scott's concept of giving the women an enforced four weeks off after Wimbledon to help cut down on fatigue-related injuries, she replied: "I'll be home with kids by the time that happens."

Sounding good for Kim in the recovery stakes then, which is great.

Re retirement: its a word we hear all the time now and I thought it was meant to be end 2007/early 2008 (injuries permitting)? So sounds like Kim has knocked another year off unless I got it wrong in the first place Looks like Kim's hurtling towards pram rather than slam territory, and why not! I reckon by the end of the year we'll be closing the lounge down with a final "what are they going to call the baby" poll

So let's hope we've still got some good tennis to see in the meantime

I don't know why, but I interpreted Kim's 'I'll be home with kids by the time that happens' comment as her scoffing at the notion that the WTA is going to implement a 4 week break after Wimbledon. As in 'I'll believe it when pigs start to fly'

That is how I interpreted it as well.
There is no quote from Kim saying the end of this year, every time she has been asked she has been veyr firm in it being 2007 so until I hear it from Kim I still think it will be 2007.

Quite a nice draw, it is up to Kim now as to what she does with it.

Did Davenport withdraw with her back injury?

Yeah, but to be fair, to the naked eye your thread looks like a poll, not a general news and articles thread ...............

Kim is playing doubles in Miami with Caroline Maes

They have a nice first round against a qualifier, but if they get through that don't see them going further as it'd be Asagoe and Srebotnik and they are a good team.

Guess Kim wanted a work out before her singles match and Caroline probably wanted to be in Miami for the awards and maybe she is also travelling as hitting partner?
