Australian Open: news, articles, etc.

Yes, I wanted to be first - but I'll leave the poll to someone else

Here's the site: http://www.australianopen.com/en_AU/index.html

First slam of the season, and our girl is 2nd seed

The draw will be done next friday, that's Friday the 13th (anybody supersticious? )

I can't imagine them not giving her a Tuesday start. Given that the men's field is decimated, they would have to be able to boast a stellar women's draw

Your opponent is not the person on the other side of the net, or the team on the other end of the field, or even the bar you must high-jump. Your opponent is yourself - your negative internal waves, your level of determination.

Although 12. Anastasia Myskina (FRA) is obviously wrong but I'm sure it's the source where you copied it from

But I don't think Kim's draw IF she plays is as easy as people are making it appear to be. I think Kim has a very tough first round.

rd 1 - Cho, she is in Canberra final, If Kim plays she isn't going to have much practice behind her.
rd 2 - Czink.
rd 3- Bartoli - won Auckland. Did withdraw from Canberra but apparently it was precautionary and she will be fine.
rd 4 - Fran - How is that easy? She could have had Vaidisova (who Fran just beat), Kuznetsova or Serena. IMO they are all tough. The only advantage in it being Fran is she isn't unknown they have played a few times recently. Okay on paper you would go you don't want Serena but who knows what shape she is in
QF - Pierce - okay that was the 2nd toughest opponent Kim could have got in the QF, the toughest being Henin.

Also in Kim's quarter is Ana and Hingis who Kim couldn't meet till the QF and Lucie who she could meet in the 4th rd. If Lucie plays as she did last week and if they meet and Kim isn't at 100% she could easily beat Kim. If there is a withdrawal though lucie will move to a seeded position. Stosur who always plays well in Australia is also in there.

Okay it isn't the toughest but I don't think it is the easiest quarter imo, that is Mauresmo's.

This all assuming Kim actually plays
