Oh well, seedings are out, might as well make a new thread then Tournament website: http://www.medibankinternational.com.au/

Hewitt, Clijsters top seed at Sydney tournament

MELBOURNE, Jan 6 (Reuters) - Australia's Lleyton Hewitt and Belgian Kim Clijsters have been made top seeds for next week's Sydney International tennis tournament.

Hewitt, the world number four, crashed out of the Australian hardcourt championships in Adelaide on Thursday, and will need a good run in Sydney to give him much-needed match practice ahead of the Australian Open, which begins on Jan. 16.

Former world number one Juan Carlos Ferrero has been seeded fifth for the tournament, while former Australian Open champion Thomas Johansson is third.

World number three Amelie Mauresmo has been ranked second for the tournament, and former world number one Justine Henin-Hardenne third.

Russia's Nadia Petrova has been seeded fifth, although she retired from her semi-final at the Auckland Open on Friday with a thigh injury.

The draw for the tournament will be made on Saturday.

Women: 1. Kim Clijsters (Belgium) 2. Amelie Mauresmo (France) 3. Justin Henin-Hardenne (Belgium) 4. Patty Schnyder (Switzerland) 5. Nadia Petrova (Russia) 6. Francesca Schiavone (Italy) 7. Nicole Vaidisova (Czech Republic) 8. Elena Likhovtseva (Russia)

u should see this headline and first paragraph

Hewitt, Clijsters named top seeds

THEY may not be number one in each other's lives any more but Lleyton Hewitt and Kim Clijsters have both earned top seedings for the Sydney International which starts on Monday.

Hewitt and Clijsters, who were engaged in 2004 but split later that year, are the feature players at the key Australian Open lead-up tournament

Not a bad draw at all. I would love for Kim to play Nicole in the semis!

Good luck Kim!

Nice draw. I saw Pennetta play this week and although she made the final I don't think she should bother Kim too much, also Kim did very well against her last time. Schiavone was in horrible form against Vives this week as well. I think overall the bottom half is stronger.

There are some tough first rounds there - Ivanovic v Peng Stosur v Vaidisova Groenfeld v Safina Henin v Hingis

Your opponent is not the person on the other side of the net, or the team on the other end of the field, or even the bar you must high-jump. Your opponent is yourself - your negative internal waves, your level of determination.
