Wishes for Kim in the new year:
*Peak at the right times. How? staying healthy and playing the right succession of tournaments in order to be match tough for the Slams.
*Stay motivated and hungry. How? Keep a regular routine to give structure to your training, but know when to modify and keep it interesting. Set new goals to keep challenging yourself.
*Hire a new coach and improve your serve. Glenn Schapp, Petrova's ex-coach, from the Netherlands perhaps? Maybe someone like Schapp who speaks her language and lives close to Belgium would be suitable.
This is what Petrova said earlier this summer regarding her coach's absence. I think it's telling and I'm sure Kim is going through similar issues now:
"You really get used to the person being around," said Petrova, who will play Klara Koukalova in the next round. "The coach does so much for you: arrange practices, hitting partners, massages, stringing rackets, transport, that you can really focus just on tennis. He corrects you when you are doing things wrong. You can’t see yourself play."
*Improve concentration during matches.
Bonus wish: above all, I wish Kim lots of love from her fans, friends and family.
Selfish wish for myself: That Kim reconsiders early retirement.
