Goals and wishes for Kimm in 2006

With the 2005 season now over for Kim - I thought I'd start a thread and ask two questions for next year.
  1. When Kim announced she would play 2 more years and then retire she said she wanted to set goals. What goals can you suggest she set herself for 2006?
  2. What 3 things you wish for Kim in 2006? You aren't allowed to give any more (although I couldn't help trying to cheat).
Here's my list:

Goals:
  1. To win at least 2 slams.
  2. To learn from this year and win the YEC.
  3. To improve on some technical aspect of my game. I'm a bit vague here - I'm not sure what aspect to choose. But the serve comes to mind. Maybe fewer DFs and ability to vary the direction of the second serve more? Others fans can do better than me here.
  4. To defend Indian Well and Miami and repeat that back-to-back feat.
Three Wishes:
  1. Remain serious injury free.
  2. At least one slam.
  3. YEC.
Other things that came to mind were revenge over Justine and Lindsay in the slams, winning with Justine in the Fed Cup, and I'd also like to see her get a good but nice coach - but that's cheating. I'm not allowed more than three wishes in this thread.

Great thread!

My wishes:
- Kim wins all the Slams
- Kim beats Serena in a Slam
- Kim beats Lindsay in a Slam

2000-2007: My "Kim years". My best years as a tennis fan. A few bitter losses but a lot of great matches and great wins. Thank you, Kim Clijsters!
26.03.2009: More Kim years to come!

I totally agree with the DFs aspect. She has been trying to reach Dementieva's record or something. I mean the match against Elena yesterday, surprisingly, Lena had lass DFs than Kim. Yea she really should improve on that. One more goal I'd like to add is get a coach, not like she plays bad or anything but a coach will help her.

P.S: I don't want to jinx her '06, so I will zip my mouth.

I'd love to see Kim winning Wimbly, mainly becaust it seems less accessible than the Aussie Open and cos, well, I'm a Brit and to me rightly or wrongly, at the end of the day, it is THE ONE!!

I'd also like to see Kim firing on all guns in Antwerp, mainly for selfish reasons: I'll be there and so far the trip is bloody well costing me an arm and a leg (and thats without the dwarf throwing)

Finally, I just wish Kim health and happiness for 2006, cos she deserves it (awww shucks!).

Patiently waiting to join the silver surfers

My 3 wishes:

1. To win as many slams as possible (4 would be nice! ) - preferably over either lindsay, serena or justine
2. To stay injury free
3. To be happy!!!!!!!

Kim Clijsters!

"I didn't play my best tennis, not even close, but I still felt like I could win out there and as long as I have that feeling, as long as it doesn't get worse I'll fight until I'm done"

Your opponent is not the person on the other side of the net, or the team on the other end of the field, or even the bar you must high-jump. Your opponent is yourself - your negative internal waves, your level of determination.

My 3 wishes:
1. Kim wins everything
2. Kim stays healthy and injury free.
3. Kim is happy.

Goals for 2006 - Realisticaly
1. Win a slam.
2. Reach at least QF at the other 3.
3. Work on her serve, it was going so well in NY and then fell in a hole I think how well she can get her serve back on track wil have a big impact on her start to the season.
4. Get to number 1.
5. Defend her titles - big task that
6. Improve her clay performances from this year. I believe Kim can actually win RG, whether she believes it though is another thing.
7. Keep working hard on every aspect of her game and improve Yes very broad but I think it captures everything
8. Maintain injury-prevention program and increase physical strength and fitness.
9. Get a coach. I don't believe they have to be the best coach in the world but I think Kim needs advice on what is going wrong in a match in particular on her serve. And so she doesn't have to scout all her opponents but can instead relax and stay mentally fresh.

My wishes for Kim are...
* stay healthy all year around
* gets to #1 in january and doesn't let anyone pass her till the end of the year (no ok that's very unrealistic of me)
* Wins one slam at least and/or defends her USopen title... my pref would be RG, not only because i'm french, but also because she lost 2 finals there and I'ld love to see her beat JHH in a final

Wishes for Kim in the new year:

*Peak at the right times. How? staying healthy and playing the right succession of tournaments in order to be match tough for the Slams.

*Stay motivated and hungry. How? Keep a regular routine to give structure to your training, but know when to modify and keep it interesting. Set new goals to keep challenging yourself.

*Hire a new coach and improve your serve. Glenn Schapp, Petrova's ex-coach, from the Netherlands perhaps? Maybe someone like Schapp who speaks her language and lives close to Belgium would be suitable.

This is what Petrova said earlier this summer regarding her coach's absence. I think it's telling and I'm sure Kim is going through similar issues now:

"You really get used to the person being around," said Petrova, who will play Klara Koukalova in the next round. "The coach does so much for you: arrange practices, hitting partners, massages, stringing rackets, transport, that you can really focus just on tennis. He corrects you when you are doing things wrong. You can’t see yourself play."

*Improve concentration during matches.

Bonus wish: above all, I wish Kim lots of love from her fans, friends and family.

Selfish wish for myself: That Kim reconsiders early retirement.

Good grief, you mean you WANT Kim to LOSE the next two successive grand slam finals?

Hey now just imagine if all my wishes came true. I don't think too many Kim fans would be disapointed:

That would mean Kim would have the best year and accumulate more points than any other player (including my beloved Serena). It also means she has a fabulous start to 2006 by reaching the finals of Australia and the finals of Roland Garros- not too shabby if you ask me. Then to top it of she wins the Cali-Slam (IW and Miami) and finishes the year defending her US Open title. If that happens Kim would have been in the finals of three of the four slams- again, not too shabby. I can't have her winning everything, my wish list feels realistic. And if I had a magic wand I'd make it so...
