Where's your presence on the GM boards (Kim fans)

Hello to all my fellow Kim fans. I was just wondering why, as a whole, you guys aren't as active on the GM boards as you are in here? There are a couple of regulars who I always see (maybe 4 of you) but I mostly don't see Kim's supporters out there in the world of "GM".... sometimes I feel so alone out there defending our Kimmie. There's a current poll topic on Kim- when she'll win her first slam. I know you all know, like me, it's only a matter of time- and nothing and no one will be able to stop her.

I guess true satisfaction doesn't come from being vocal, it comes from being right and when Kimmie wins her slam a lot of people are going to be left silent.

I'll admit that I do sometimes feel guilty for my lack of participation in GM when it comes to defending Kim in certain threads.

Part of the reason is that I outright refuse to go into certain threads if they were started by specific people. You just kind of get a feel for what type of thread it is going to be by who started it. You know, those threads that seem to attract the Kim haters to go in and bash her just for the fun of it. I figure if I don't enter the thread I am not going to get upset over some nasty post about Kim. Gotta look out for my ulcers!

Another and more prominent reason is that I don't want to provoke any of those pouncing Kim haters to have a reason to attack her or my fellow Kim fans just because of something I may say. Do you know what I mean?

I have noticed that you always are a loyal defender of Kim and I am always appreciative of your efforts. I hereby promise to make an effort to join the 'defenders of Kim' ranks in GM so that you are not quite so lonesome.

As you know, I'm always in GM banging on about Kimmie's greatness, sometimes much to the annoyance of some others

I agree with you though, that there seems to be a large contingent of Kim fans (we know there are a lot of them from the hit statistics of this Forum) who appear to be completely silent! Its spooky you've started this thread today, when only yesterday I was moaning a bit about the lack of activity in CCL and I was asking myself and others about the presence of Kim fans in this Lounge, let alone GM!

Obviously, everyone is free to be who and what they want, there is no obligation on anyone to post and of course some would argue that it is quality and not quantity that counts.

So, very longwindedly, Sir Stefwhit, I'm getting round to saying that I haven't got an answer for you, because I was asking the same question myself only yesterday.

For one horrible moment I thought that maybe Kimmie's fans were deserting her or had maybe been adbucted by a large alien spaceship, but I've been assured that both of these potential explanations are impossibilities.

Stefwhit, just gonna call you that for now, what a coinsidence, I actually gave you a good rep yesterday for defending Kim in that Grand Slam thread So thanks again for that

OK, well, I try to read almost every thread at GM every day, mostly the ones where Kim is concerned or some that just attract my attention. But the thing is: those threads, annoying threads about Kim's 'choking' or her not having a GS yet, makes me want to kill the person who posts them and who start a discussion where Kim haters can go on and on. And sometimes I do post in them, but over at GM you have to be very careful with what you say, otherwise within 5 minutes you will have 10 bad reps. It's not that I'm afraid, but I know I'll get into a fight easily with those haters and they are just not worth it, though my opinion on that has started to change, cause I actually love a good fight there And when a Kim fan posts in those threads, the Kim haters are just gonna raise their level up a bit and that's not pleasant.

And I think most threads at GM are just not worth it to post anything in there, cause it's always about the same things. But I do follow all those threads and if someone gets out of hand, I'm on his/her ass immediately.
Off course, I could post the same thing in every Kim thread there, but that would just be boring.

So basicially: I love to defend Kim and I love to show that I'm a fan, but some people over at GM are just soo stupid that it doesn't matter what you say, they'll keep on saying the same thing. It's nice to let your anger go sometimes. I've only spent the last few months really following Kim there, cause I used to avoid GM. And I have posted there in some threads or just quoted someone, like I wanted to quote you yesterday. And I'll continue to do that, cause these next 6 weeks there will appear many more Kim threads there I'm afraid and then it's on.

I can promise you though: If Kim manages to get that US Open title, you can bet your butt on it that we are gonna take that GM forum by storm

I think I have the same feeling.

I think I'm just afraid to defend Kim there cos, you know, Kim haters won't like it. Maybe Kim haters opened threads about Kim and bashed Kim in those threads. If then I post in those threads, maybe they will be more "fiery" and bash Kim more.. Of course I don't want that happen..
Maybe that's a ridiculous reason but I feel it..
And, Sir Stefwhit (btw, what's your name?), if you a Kim fan please post in this forum more and more!
Fifi, I dont think Kim fans were deserting her or had maybe been adbucted by a large alien spaceship which caused the lack of activity in CCL.. The example is me: I didn't post in the last few days cos I didn't know what to post so I didn't post anything.. No great pics, articles, etc.. so I didn't know what to reply and talk about Maybe another Kim fans felt the same

Well I know that I'm going to keep fightin' the fight. There are too many misconceptions about our beloved Kim- and I'll keep doing my part in setting the record straight. Even though there's a dispoportionate number of fans in the GM vocal about her, she seems to have gained more fans from other players fans- I think she might be people most popular second and third favorite player. Has anyone else noticed this?

On to the hardcourts where Kim will shine... I'm looking forward to Stanford and what the rest of the summer (and fall) has in store for Kimmy!!

Awesome And it's true what you say, I notice the same thing, Kim being the 2nd favorite of other people, which is cool off course But it's too bad that there are too many people who only see the negative side and even though I don't think there is much we can do to change that, we can always try

I agree with what you all have said. I am also guilty about not standing up for Kim but sometimes it is just easier to ignore it!!! But those threads are really annoying! I mean there is even one in there about how annoying Kim fans are!!!! Can you believe it!!!! I hope Kim shows them all in the US Open!!!

Usually I don't bother - it only incites the haters, and I prefer not to give them ammunition.
But I just made a tiny effort .

I do admire your persistance though Sir S. - I usually do read those threads you post in

I couldn't have said it better. A shame I don't have much time to post a lot atm but my point of view is that I know there are a lot of trolls who have nothing better to do than be haters... That annoys me if it goes against any player let alone when it's about Kim So although sometimes I wish I had the guts to defend her properly sometimes, I just don't bother most times .
but Sir S. Keep going and let's hope more of us come to your rescue in GM from now on.

I have to admit that I dont go into GM very often, maybe twice or three times a week, I just dont like the atmosphere out there.

But when someone says that there is an active Kim thread, I always participate. Especially when some smartass over there is trying to bash Kim, like today at the Kim/GS thread.
But often enough I'm to late to notice a Kim thread.

| Marat Safin | Lleyton Hewitt | Olivier Rochus |
| Murray | Tipsarevic | Mahut | Srichaphan || Gulbis|
| Rafter | Majoli | Kim Clijsters | Schalken | Enqvist |

I usually don't post in GM because it is impossible to defend Kimmie from those angry, often impolite comments. Some people just seem to be so obssesed in a sick way and they do not show any tolerance for the others. And what is more, some of them seem to start the threads to insult someone so I just rather keep away from those... however, when I get very pissed, I post there but I still try to keep my emotions and language under controlle...

Sir Stefwhit, I always look forward to your insightful posts and match reports...and I happen to have the same faves Graf, Kim and Serena (although I've also come to appreciate Monica Seles more. i believe she was the forerunner to current day power hitting tennis).

I don't post as frequently on GM, especially those polls, because I find them pointless. Furthermore I post on these boards for entertainment and not for aggravation. Whenever there's a thread about Kim I notice the same old trolls rearing their ugly heads to bash Kim.

And to clear a misconception, just because some Kim fans aren't as vocal on GM as other players' fans, doesn't mean we don't believe in her. Possibly CCLers just don't see the point of arguing over conjectures. It's best to let the results or the racket do the talking.
