Kim matches you will always remember!

Leipzig 2000: final - Kim Clijsters bt. Elena Likhovtseva 7-6 (8-6) 4-6 6-4
Kim's first big title (tier II). This was a marathon thriller, gosh I was so nervous! She had a great smile when she won

Roland Garros 2001: final - Jennifer Capriati bt. Kim Clijsters 1-6 6-4 12-10
Kim's first slam final, she was so young & cute She lost, but she did fight like hell. I was so proud of her

Year-End Championships 2001: SF - Lindsay Davenport bt. Kim Clijsters 1-6 6-3 7-6 (7-3)
Again, a thriller against the best player of the moment. Strange how she also won the 1st set 6-1, lost the 2nd by 1 break & then lost the 3rd set after a loooong battle! It was in the tie-break that Lindsay's knee snapped I think

Australian Open 2003: SF - Serena Williams bt. Kim Clijsters 4-6 6-3 7-5
Even after 1 year, I haven't really recovered

Year-End Championships 2003 - Kim Clijsters bt. Amelie Mauresmo 3-6 6-4 6-4
Kim playing very aggressively She was in great form that week, esp when playing Amélie

Which are the matches you will always remember?

Well you gotta include beating venus in Hamburg (2002) and beating Serena to win the first YE champs in 2002, even though I concede they would not count as "classic" matches.

I think the best match I have seen is the 1/4 final against Amelie at the 2003 YE championships - awesome match with Kim playing unbelievable tennis. I taped it and I still watch it regularly!

PS: Just for fun, I also like the Hopman cup 2003 matches she played with Malisse, especially the mixed dubs against Spain.

Patiently waiting to join the silver surfers

I didn't see those matches Ok, I did watch Kim-Serena, but that was like 6h after the match was played & I already knew the score

Somehow i remember only those matches that were after IW'03 and i didn't watch YEC'02 and Aus Open'03 against Serena
but amoung last year matches i like one against Lindsay in Los Angeles where Kim won 6-1 3-6 6-1 and became number 1
and against Amelie in Rome'03 and in YEC'03

That was a great match but I think Elena deserved more to win than Kim. But back then, it was Elena who choked the match away

I was exhausted after this match, and I still had to study for my exams two days later

Kim was the better player the entire match, but Lindsay somehow won that match.

Me neither

Didn't see that one, but I saw the final and that was no match...
Her matches at the YEC, I never liked (2002 or 2003). It always seems she is the only fit player.

Her matches against Amelie are almost always thrillers, the final in Rome wasn't so bad either.

The match against Venus in Hamburg was a classic match IMO. I think it was one of Kim's best matches ever. She was totally outplayed in the first set, but managed somehow to level the match in a fantastic 2nd set. Venus was totally out of the match in the third that is true, but that was only because she was outplayed by Kim. You saw her thinking: I beat Martina yesterday and now I am getting beaten by this Belgian. She was totally shocked.

And another great match was against Lindsay in the final of Stanford. The first time she won the tournament. I think it was her first victory over Lindsay too.

well, actually kim and amelie played against each other twice:
once in the qualifying rounds, Kim won in three sets
once in the final, Kim won in two sets...

COME ON KIM!

Kim vs Venus Hambourg 2002
Kim vs Hingis Sydney 2002 That was just a fantastic match!!! Sarah Pitkowski commented it for Eurosport and she said it was one of the highest match level she saw! Not a lot of mistakes, great rallies, aggresive tennis,..

Definitly the 01 French Open final. I saw that match the other day and all I can say is wow - in that Kim has improved so much since then, especially the depth in her groundstokes.

And can we not talk about the Serena/Kim Aus Open 03 SF

yeah... i cannot forget 2001 FO final... i wasn't a big kim fan yet... but i was rooting for her against jennifer... i really thought she could win that after taking the first set easily!

i cannot forget this year's AO final and all those BAD CALLS against kim... and her effort to comeback being down from the 2nd and 3rd sets... i thought she was going to lose it in straight sets!!!

she just need to pick it up some more to win her first slam... i think she is gonna win her first slam this year!

don't think I can put it in that way, she may be a great player, for me that doesn't mean all her matches are great (if that makes sense well, I guess it does...)

it's normal that people sometimes don't play so well, especially when you're having a tight schedule like Kim, so a-not-so-great match is possible in my opinion...

OF COURSE: they fade away by all the truly GREAT matches she's played (and will play) during her carreer
