Serban and Kulikova's first Fed Cup after switching nationalities. Cyprus gets a huge benefit there.

DRC making it's Fed Cup debut here. Their team compromises of the Mfoumouangana sisters who represent France, and Anabel Ossombi who represents Ukraine.

Re: 2019 Europe/Africa Zone Group III

So it seems that it's not the Democratic Republic of Congo, but instead it is the Republic of Congo.

The last time they played in FC was 1992.

Yeah Nigeria have many girls who could put up a decentish team.

Burundi could field up a decent team in the future too with Nahimana and Niyonkuru.

Wish Zimbabwe fielded a team too, as they have Bhunu who could win a few matches for them.

Re: 2019 Europe/Africa Zone Group III

Yes, sad that many African countries don't play/withdrew

Nigeria
Mozambique
Namibia (the sudden death of Suzelle Davin was so sad)
Zimbabwe (I miss Cara Black)
Madagascar
Cameroon (Serena's ancestors are from there)
Uganda

Serena: "We have great personalities like Jelena (Jankovic) on the tour."
Jelena: "If I had to pick someone after me, I'd pick Serena."

Serena Williams Maria Sharapova Jelena Jankovic
A. Radwanska V. Zvonareva C. Wozniacki P. Kvitova
N. Petrova A. Chakvetadze A. Myskina L. Davenport M. Hingis
A. Kournikova T. Paszek K. Sprem J. Dokic I. Tulyaganova

Yes. Both countries are named after the Congo river and pretty much share the same capital city which is just separated by the river.

Democratic Republic of Congo was colonised by the Belgian, while the Republic of Congo was colonised by the French.
