Romanian players you think should be in/should reach Top 100

To me

Andreea Mitu (1991)
https://www.itftennis.com/procircuit...erid=100093408
Cristina Dinu (1993)
https://www.itftennis.com/procircuit...erid=100116106
Patricia Maria Tig (1994)
https://www.itftennis.com/procircuit...erid=100149950
Raluca Georgiana Serban (1997)
https://www.itftennis.com/procircuit...erid=100190660
Elena Gabriela Ruse (1997)
https://www.itftennis.com/procircuit...erid=100186560
Jaqueline Cristian (1998)
https://www.itftennis.com/procircuit...erid=100173803
Andreea Amalia Rosca (1999)
https://www.itftennis.com/procircuit...erid=100170322
Georgia Andreea Craciun (1999)
https://www.itftennis.com/procircuit...erid=100183785

All 8 girls are very talented
A pity that most of these girls are struggling.
I hope they will make it and reach the Top 100 (again) !

Dinu is in a big slump
Craciun only rarely plays, she often disappears
Tig has totally disappeared since Sep. 2017 !
Mitu is just coming back as a mother, she has a long way to go.
The others are stagnating or slowly moving up.

But..but..you forgot Irina Bara (b. 1995) who just rached her highest ranking of 139 and is the closest among all these players to break into Top 100. I like her, she plays very well in doubles with Buzarnescu making QF in Roland Garros..Made 60k ITF final this year in singles; been playing quite well. And among the newer players it's going to be either Andreea Rosca or Ruse to break into top 100.

Bara and Top 100 ?
I disagree. She is a pusher and lacks weapons. There are many better players.
She is quite solid/consistent, a big fighter and mentally good. But not very talented.

But a talented player I forgot is Alexandra Dulgheru !

Remember the amazing tennis she played at WTA Premier Warsaw ?

Any of them could reach top 100 but to name a few I pick Ruse, Rosca, Craciun.
To all the names already mentioned I will add a less known name Ilona Ghioroaie. Itís a long shot nowadays.

Bates Feldenkrais Schneider

Interesting Ghioroaie had some good results since Oct. 2017 !

She beat Serban, Rosca, Dinu and Anshba. Not bad wins. Reached quite a few 15k finals.
But she also retired a few times recently. I hope she can stay injury-free now.
What is her game style ? Is she a feisty fighter like Halep ?

And BTW where does her weird surname come from ?
Many Romanian surnames are ending with "u" (Niculescu, Begu, Buzarnescu, Dulgheru, Cadantu, Mitu, Dinu, Bulgaru, Dascalu, Adamescu, Ghitescu, Bejenaru, Prisacariu, ...)

Better and talented are in the eye of the beholder. I for one would much rather watch smart, crafty players who are good at redirecting pace and have great volleying skills. Irina might not be able to serve 10+ aces per set or generate her own pace as easily as someone who's 6 ft tall (for obvious reasons), but that does not mean she doesn't excel at other areas of the game .

Dulgheru is a personal favorite and she should get back in the top 100 provided she stays healthy the rest of the year -never a given, but hope springs eternal.

Re: Romanian players you think should be in/should reach Top 100

Henin also was not tall at all and no pusher, but she was very talented
So you can have great strokes and serve also when you are small, or be a pusher ...

To say it clear, it is possible to be small AND very talented (see Henin)
But Bara is not that case. I have seen matches from Bara where a "normal" ITF player looked more talented compared to her. She lacks weapons. Often she just pushes. Small Bara plays quite solid/consistent tennis, is a big fighter and mentally good (better than certain other Romanians). But game-wise she is nothing special at all regarding her serve and groundstrokes ...

Was following along just fine; just not agreeing . Justine was an exception when it comes to excelling despite being small in stature. She's also 2 inches taller than Irina. We weren't discussing Irina's multi-slam potential (in singles), just whether or not she belongs in the top 100 when playing well. Irina tries to open up the court, looks for opportunities to come to the net and actually moves up whenever possible. Yes, her serve is as basic as it gets, but given her size limitations am not sure it would ever be a weapon. Hopefully better placement, etc will come with experience. And some of her volleys (and also moonball winners) are very special. YMMV and all that good stuff.
