Re: Summer Break Tennis Events & Trivia (2015)

Great straight set win today for Georgia's Rising Sophomore Ellen Perez over NCAA Champion Jamie Loeb in the qualifying final of the Sumter ITF. Score was 7-5 7-5. Loeb advanced to the main draw as a lucky loser. Lots of current and former college players in this tournament.

Iowa doubles team Talcott and Reimchen travel all the way to Egypt, together presumably, and draw each other in qualifying: http://www.itftennis.com/procircuit/...tid=1100034791

Not sure if it has been mentioned here but Jamie Loeb has turned pro.

Re: Summer Break Tennis Events & Trivia (2015)

Jamie's results over the summer

She's been playing $50k but hasn't made it past the 2nd round.
Had a good showing in her last $25k in El Paso but that tournament looked like another college match, as she defeated Brady in the finals.

Always interesting how they'll do in the pro's.

First 3 years is usually scripted like this, so I hope to she resurfaces in a few:
1) At least QF showings in $50k, get enough points to get to Top 120
2) Qualify for WTA events, do battle to make it into MD
3) Better performance against Top 50 players, improving opportunities to win, development stage to get to next level

They draw the #1 seed Hingis/Mirza. Good luck ladies!

Also, it should be noted that Routliffe/Jansen didn't get a wildcard after winning the NCAA championship because Routliffe is Canadian, but they qualified by winning the women's doubles open tournament. They will be playing the #6 seed Kops-Jones/Spears.

Re: Summer Break Tennis Events & Trivia (2015)

It's an all Bruin final with Robin Anderson facing Chanelle Van Nguyen for a qualifying wildcard into next year's US Open.

Chanelle defeated Brooke Austin and Lauren Herring. Robin defeated Josie Kuhlman and Julia Jones. Why does Chanelle always play better in individual tournaments against the top players?

Ahn must be unlikely to always have Gibbs on her side of the draw.
She lost to her twice last summer and I don't think Ahn played that much last summer.

LOL. I was thinking the same, but more along the lines that Anderson has owned Gibbs in collegiate play, so this should be a good progress report.
