Is that draw accurate? How did they come up with it?

Pac-12 vs. UNC and Florida vs. UVA in the first round. Way to go USTA. Loeb and Brady should be the top seeds based on their summer performances.
What is this exactly? Will the winner get any sort of future WC?

Really? Why were Janowicz and Cercone invited then?

Depends on their ranking at next years us open. If 150, it's a MDWC. Otherwise it's a QWC. They invited members of the all star team and top seniors/players who turned pro

Robin Anderson was invited but I'm guessing she pulled out. She hasn't played since the national championship. Hayley Carter was added as a replacement.

It is the 6 players on the USTA collegiate team and the 2 highest ranked American graduating seniors (not already on that team). I couldn't believe that was Janowicz/Cercone either, but there really were no other American seniors in the top 30 besides Ahn who was already on that team.

In theory, that would make this upcoming season quite strong for college tennis but then with this no-ad fiasco, who knows or cares

Also, saw in the NYT that the USTA has "poached" Brady and she is taking the fall off to play pro events. May turn pro?

Giron said the same thing at first but it was NID he would turn pro.

I think Brady will do the same.

Re: Former College players in Pro

Loeb vs. Elbaba in the finals. No way do they get into the top 150 on the tour if they continue playing college. Would the winner end up turning pro? I think it's more likely if Loeb turns pro.

Not speaking to the particulars of this case, but the strategy of doing some college years then turning pro, could be a better choice for a range of player than the choice of zero or four years.

Does anyone remember Julia Cohen? I believe she played briefly for the Gators before turning pro.

Check this out!!!

Re: Former College players in Pro

So I just found out Yuki Chiang has been playing the ITF Circuit since June. She won a 10K doubles in Japan and is presently playing a 10K in Peru. Does this mean she won't return to college?

As long as she doesn't accept the prize money, she's still eligible for college play. Tons of the top college players test their games and earn ranking points on the ITF circuit during the summer or even the fall, and then still play college tennis. No issue there, provided they don't take the money.

I believe they can even keep enough prize money to cover expenses (with receipts). I believe.

She isn't on roster anymore. I am pretty sure her and Michigan's Amy Zhu are now pro. I have no idea why though.

Re: Former College players in Pro

In the last few years, they changed the rules where they can keep up to $10,000 of their earnings.

In the past, they could only keep up to the amount of their expenses, although I don't know who really monitors that and determines what are qualified expenses.
