Kobe's farewell

This is off topic.

What a magical night Kobe's last NBA game was. The Lakers were down by 15 points and by 9 points with under 3 minutes left in the game and Kobe led them to a comeback victory while hitting the game winning shot. Kobe outscored the opposing team by himself 23 to 21 in the 4th quarter alone while going on to score an amazing 60 points in his last NBA game ever.

Kobe is a true global icon with tens of millions of followers in Weibo, China's version of Twitter. I guess it's fitting that Kobe's last NBA game may have been the most memorable "performance" of any athlete in any sport for their last outing ever. In tennis the most memorable exit has to be Pete Sampras beating Andre Agassi to win the U.S. Open, pictured below, during his last match before retirement.

Now Kobe skipped college and went directly into the NBA at age 17. But there is a school being UC Irvine, just 5 minutes away from his home that he is fond of and works out at during the summers. UCI fans love Kobe.

If more USA players did the same and went directly into developmental leagues like they do in European soccer, we would win the World Cup every year.

Kudos to Kobe and to that particular school just the same.

America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves.

Hawaii upset #1 seed Long Beach St. 4-3

The shocker of the tournament was unranked Hawaii beating #1 seed Long Beach State after LBS won 4-0 vs HI in the regular season.

For the #1 seed to lose in the semi-finals that almost never happens in the Big West tournament.

#1 seed LBS losing before the finals is the BIGGEST UPSET in the last decade of the Big West Tournament.

I recall in 2007 UCI as the #1 seed also lost in the BWT semi-finals to Cal Poly. But UCI was able to secure a NCAA at-large that season. Long Beach St. will miss the NCAA tournament this season making their upset even more disappointing.

Brexit at Long Beach (Official Women's Tennis Roster - Women's Tennis - Long Beach State Official Athletic Site) with only Eales going the distance. I don't doubt that the replacements are upgrades, mind you.

Re: Big West 2015-16

Let's ignore the year in the thread title.

I haven't crossed all the tees, but I take it her father is the Hollywood actor Timothy. Still not clear how this works. An old poster said that the fact that there's an NLI and a release implies that there's a scholarship, yes?
