Anyone been to Thailand?

Hi, everyone. Me and my better half are planning to take a trip to Thailand in mid-August, and it's going to be the first time there for both of us. I really don't know much about Thailand, but I heard that it's cheap, fun, and relaxing, and that's exactly what we need. If any of you guys have been there, could you please share your tips on any must-sees or must-dos? We'd really, really appreciate it. Thanks! (Oh, and I'm currently in Korea, so if any of you are coming here any time soon, feel free to ask me for recommendations so i can return the favor)

I've been to Bangkok but that was just when i was a baby so i dont remember much, but i also went to Hat Yai when i was 15. It was really hot and it was so great for shopping. I bought so much clothes, and it was all really cheap, nice clothes too. And you can get other things cheap like cds. I dont really know any tourist places though if thats what your after.

Must-do:
>> visit Wat Pra Kaew and The Grand Palace.
>> cruise along Chao Praya River.
>> try thai food here, the original recipe, it's 10000 times better than thai food in other countries. Recommended menu including: Gang Cure Waan[Green paste curry] Somtam[papaya salad] Tom Kaa Gai[soup of coconut milk] Yum nüer [spicy n sour beef salad]. They will serve all of these dishes with the real Jusmine rice--Kao Hom Mali--if you go to fine restaurants. If you'd tried thai dishes before, u'll feel the different. It's much sourer, hotter, spicier and tastier.
>> Go to Silom at night, wheter you are G or str8. They are amazing.
>> Outside BKK: Chiangmai--try eat Khan Tok,a traditional menu set. visit Pratart doi Suthep. Try Kap moo, Num prick nume, Num Prick Ong, Sai-ouar and Gang Hung-lé. Go shopping at Gard Luang--the central market.
Phuket--Visit Lam Promthep, the cape. Try southern dishes: Gang Luang[yellow soup], fresh seafood inc. king-sized oysters, lobsters and more. Eat Gang Tai Pla, curry soup southern style. Take a trip around the bay, inc. stops at Maya bay[where they shoot the beach,Kao Tapu[the leaning Mountain], etc...

I think I mentioned the main principles, I'llleave the rest to Lonely Planet...

And about the cost, here is some clue:
>> a can of coke is 13.00 ฿ = 0.33$
>> a bottle of beer[330ml] costs 60฿ = 1.33$
>> one dish along the street[thais eat all night, the street is always full of food venders, days and nights] costs about 30฿ = 0.66$
>> a meal in thai restaurant for 5 persons, composed of 7 dishes and dessert, costs approx. 1100 ฿ = 25$
>> metro is ranged 10-40 ฿, no more than a buck per trip.
>> BKK-Phuket flight costs 5000 ฿ [return ticket] = 120$
>> Banana boat at beach[you must try it] is approx 500 ฿ per trip which lasts about 30 min = 12$
>> Starbucks Green tea Frappucino costs 95 ฿ = 2$ for tall size.
I guess you must have had some idea...

Thailand is my favourite place on the planet; I go every two years (next time in february). Just go to some remote island, far away from all the tourists and let the sun rising wake you up each day. Swim and snorkel and dive and run and explore the forests...its magic Its the most relaxing experience you can have.

Bangkok is great for shopping, theres great clothes very cheap, and the nightlife is good too.
