I'm not sure if Maria can take much from Stan's run. Stan has legitimately improved his game on every level: his serve, his forehand, his stamina, his movement, his mental. I'm not saying Maria will never beat Serena. It's just that she hasn't really made any real progress in her game lately. Thats what I'm trying to say too long ago.
Serena couldnt make trough the quarters 3 of the last 5 slams. Its pointless to focus on her anyhow when Maria wasted many chances against much much worse opponents or just because struggling with herself. People really should get their priorities straigth before personal feuds and obsessions.
The difference between Stan and Maria though, the man wasnt hampered by injuries in his past 2 years. Of course Maria could improve her serving, FH, etc more easily without the needs of consulting a doctor every 2nd week or so. Excuses, i know. But they come handy.
