Why is there a need for another GS at all?

So winning an event with 7 other people in the field means that you're a Grand Slam Winner. No. Just no.

To win a Slam you have to beat 2 or even less top 10 players. To win YEC you have to beat 4 top players. Moreover, you have to qualify for YEC. Just looking through YEC winners and Slam winners during the last 15 years it's obvious that winning YEC is tougher task than winning Slam , but it's still less prestigious.

Re: The YEC should be considered a fifth major

Yec don't have the prestige of a SLAM, but for me, prefer to watch YEC from the begining till end than to watch a SLAM tournament.

Re: The YEC should be considered a fifth major

To the WTA, the YEC is the biggest tournament of their year. Its their big money maker.

What's for sure is that it definitely should be placed above a major final.

No, we don't need Overratedpova with another major under her belt.

Besides, we already have 5th slam Miami.

Indeed. You only have to look at the list of scrubs who have won majors over the last decade when their rankings at the time weren't good enough to even qualify for YEC to understand that:

2004 Maria Sharapova, 2005 Venus Williams, 2005 Justine Henin, 2007 Serena Williams, 2009 Kim Clijsters...
