I agree with Simona I didn't think Errani played badly whereas Kirilenko did (though Simona still played great when she had to). I don't know the stats from the Kirilenko match but Simona's 17W - 2UE in the 2nd set against Errani was just (32-9 for the whole match). Almost 3 winners per game in that set! I think it was Nightcrawl3r who described it as "eyegasmic". He wasn't wrong!

The match against Radwanska in Doha was even better, Radwanska didn't play bad, she admitted that, Simona was simply flawless.

I think if you take away the first 7 games (to 2-5) then you may be right. She hit bigger heights in those last 13 games because she was being made to work harder. Her range of shotmaking & winners was probably more impressive than against Errani. It is a match I love to watch again. Even watching the first 7 games is ok ... because I know what's coming next!

Re: Simona Halep Cheering thread - volume 2

it basically says there that Simona and Sori have overcome their injuries, right ankle and right shoulder respectively....

it seems there was some sort of team building at the local clinic between these two last week ))

True but, ugh, will she now have to wear that horrible blue & orange outfit that Sori, Ivanovic and half the girls on the tour wear? She looked (really) good in Lacoste outfits, and a bit different to most of the players since so few wear Lacoste. But, if they're not paying her the bonuses then I guess she had to change.

Good that the ankle is better. Hopefully, it was just one of those ankle-turns where there's no damage but it's just sore for a couple of days.

I would so love to see her in a completely black outfit
Dark colours go with people who have light coloured eyes (like her ... and also me ) )

Re: Simona Halep Cheering thread - volume 2

I'm getting too excited for Simona's return to the court (but quite nervous as well!) I do think she'll be back with a bang in Stuttgart though - the hunger to get playing again and make up for the miss of Miami, points to make up in the RTS and a Top 4 RG seeding to chase ... Despite the small injuries she should be feeling rejuvenated, rather than somewhat drained as she appeared in Indian Wells.

Does anyone know when the draw for Stuttgart will be made? I can't find anything on the tournament website about it. Qualifying starts on Saturday but the main draw matches don't start until Tuesday.

By the way, I was reading the sub-forum of another player yesterday (I won't say who) ... Can you believe that in March of this year there was still someone saying Simona's style is defensive/counterpunching? Furthermore, the same poster said her ground strokes are "average"
