Re: Cindy Burger

Cindy WD from Rancho Santa Fe as well and decided to stay in Europe. Playing 25k Kreuzlingen.
Tough draw with home fave and 5th seed Timea Bacsinszky as her 1st round opponent Timea played 2 tournaments this year and both times she won the title (25k and 15k).

Re: Cindy Burger

Lost 16 67 5 games went to deuce in the 1st set, but didn't manage to win any of them. Good second set.

No shame to lose, just an unfortunate draw.

Re: Cindy Burger

Expected loss, was not a good draw for her. Timea is doing well.
Not a bad scoreline. 1st set a breadstick, but as I understand from Mark the games were close. She kept it very close in the 2nd.

Re: Cindy Burger

While Cindy is working on recovering from her elbow injury, she hasn't been slacking off. She has posted numerous clips on her facebook where she is doing all kind of fitness exercises so she is working hard to get back on court

She has also worked on her PR and she has attracted 10 new sponsors to help her financially and she is also sponsored now by Adidas for her clothing which looks really good imo

Some pics on her site:

Re: Cindy Burger

Lost 36 16 to Xu, this tournament doesn't seem to suit Dutch players very well

Re: Cindy Burger

Xu ended up winning the tournament, so after all not such a bad loss perhaps.

This week at 50k Aning, Cindy won her 1st round 64 63 against Zhaoxuan Yang 64 63. Some easy points there, hopefully she can start getting some matches under her belt and start to get her level of tennis back up again.

Xu also didn't lose a set on the way to her title. Also, she has a career high of 207 (september '12).
So yeah, maybe not such a bad loss.

Nice to see her win 1st round in 50k

Re: Cindy Burger

Cindy won her 2nd round today 75 61 against Hao Chen Tang and also played her quarterfinal against top seed Jovana Jaksic (WTA: 112) which she lost 36 36

Good week for Cindy to get back after her injury, probably will need some more matches to get back at her A-game. QF at a 50k is a very good result for her though

She is now at 248 in the live rankings, would be an improvement of her career high ranking of 253.

She is still on the EL for 25k Tunis next week, although I doubt that she will fly all the way from China and start playing another tournament right away but we'll see.

Re: Cindy Burger

No shame losing to Jaksic who is really collecting her air miles playing back to back tournaments: WTA Mexico, WTA Poland, Fed Cup in Romania, 25k Switzerland, 50k China and now 75k Slovak Republic

Lost today to Kawa in 25k Tunis 4 and 2

Re: Cindy Burger

I think Cindy was still a bit tired after her ttip to China, perhaps wasn't the smartest thing to play.a tournament in Europe right after her China trip.

Anyhow, let's hope she rests up for the summer

Cindy is playing. Bundesliga 2 in Germany for Bochus Dusseldorf and managed to defeat Andrea Mitu 64 64, that's a good win

Re: Cindy Burger

Cindy is playing Q for WTA Strasbourg, her first WTA tournament ever!

Nice milestone for her, but she has a tough match on her hands. She is playing against Saisai Zheng who recently won 50k Aning where Cindy reached the quarterfinal.

Good luck anyway!
