btw, Serbian.
Statistical and Analytical reasons, it's called gatrhering of data, there must be some reason for it.

I know a lot about gathering data for linguistic researches and this is just the weirdest way I've heard of. 3 posters said that Serbian is their mother tongue, which is around 10% of total answers here. What can it possible mean except that tennis is popular among native Serbian speakers. And how do the answers complement the poll that is not even public? I could have only voted "other" without specifying, as many did. Too many flaws, I'm sorry.

I heard that too. Those researchers probably made a poll here and got that conclusion.

So have I, but not for linguistics,

but Who knows, obviously the parameters of this research havn't been thought out properly and wouldn't hold up.

For all we know, it could be a little high school exercise in his Maths class doing a bar chart on a series of data and then discussing the flaws of stat anyl afterwards, lets give the guy some effort for what hes doing and answer his questions,

there will be plenty of time in his academic career where we can nail the shit out of him for being wrong on his approach

Re: What is your mother tongue?

Many thanks to you, who have voted on this poll. I really appreciate your participation, except for the one who called me "troll." I don't even know why I have to be called such. I need much more votes for my research, which I can't reveal the moment. I will let you know what this is about when the time comes.

It might be interesting to know from those who are not native English speakers to know why they chose English and do they feel they benefit from it? And in what ways?

i think english is a necessity......there is no choice really for non native speakers......the world speaks english so you are forced to learn it even if you don't like it......my feelings are neutral about the language......it is not that difficult to learn but at the same time not that easy to maintain a neutral accent......expecting even half decent accent is too much, let alone a neutral english accent......

we have an american guy at the US embassy in hyderabad......he learned our language for 2 years before coming here......he's barely half correct with his grammar, nags a lot and the accent is a total mess......it's not a mock but that's what bound to happen with most people when they try to learn a language which is not their native......

as for the benefits of learning it, well it is difficult to survive in MNCs without at least some level of proficiency in the language......apart from that, you don't need english at all anywhere you go in india......hindi does everything for you......
