LOL..the Tennis Channel ticker has Hampton winning the match. Not the first time they's made egregious errors like this.

How refreshing to see a results thread with all praise.

Jamie and Elena are obviously well respected and deserve this success. Congratulations ladies.

Vesnina winning two titles this year. Quite an achievement after all these years.

James

Would've been nice to win this title as a qualifier beating the top seed and all.

Ugh.

Vesnina winning a Premier title Eastbourne has finally been disgraced.

Although this might actually prove how top players do not care about this tournament at all anymore.

Re: Eastbourne Final: Vesnina def Hampton 6-2 6-1

Fully expected that Hampton would have nothing in the tank after yesterday.

I'm sure Eastbourne and everyone who, like me, once regarded it as one of the best tournaments in the whole season, can't wait for the gap between RG and Wimbledon to be enlarged to 3 weeks so that the top players go back into actually putting a semblance of effort here.

Re: Eastbourne Final: Vesnina def Hampton 6-2 6-1

I never remembered Vesnina being quite this hot before.

Before her titles this year I thought her future lay in doubles. I'm not sure how much higher she can go, but maybe if it's windy she can crush anyone. It's always nice to see someone enjoying their tennis and everything seems good in her life at the moment.

Hampton is still quite inexperienced despite being 23, and didn't cope with the wind. The scoreline was really harsh. I like her game and there's plenty of potential there.

I still think her big results will be in doubles. But like Kirilenko, or Errani, she might go top 10 in singles while she and Makarova are a top doubles team
I expect better singles results from Makarova too. She probably needs a few more years. Tennis is becoming age 26-32 sport for peaking
