New British Umpire - Lucy Grant

Lucy is a very good umpire, she is Scottish. But she has umpired Sharapova, Azarenka at the Aus Open this year. She did the Serena Vera match at Eastbourne last year. She also did Premier Event at Paris. I wonder what Alison Lang thinks!

she did a Kvitova match at Wimbledon and was Terrible.

I think it was against Pironkova, terrible calls all over the place.

She is terrible. Lucky she's British and she'll get multiple Wimbledon finals.

Re: New British Umpire - Lucy Grant

I read the title as "New British Empire", and opened the thread fully expecting to find images of parade ground-perfect lines of redcoated infantry in pith helmets bayoneting everything in their path.

Extra credits to the first to point out why exactly this image isn't a good illustration of the aforementioned.

Re: New British Umpire - Lucy Grant

Not a very close-up pic, but she's clearly no (Greek Goddess) Eva Asderaki.

In answer to Corswandt's question, the Bloody Brits in that picture are not "parade ground-perfect lines of redcoated infantry" (which of course weren't feasible to even try to maintain in a battle, such lines being EZ targets for the opposition). They're also not exactly "bayoneting everything in their path" ala Vika, but playing defense (like "a certain pusher who shall not be named").

Re: New British Umpire - Lucy Grant

She has a funny accent, but she is nowhere near as good as Alison

Yup. That painting (by modern Italian artist Giuseppe Rava ) shows the final stages of the British defeat at the battle of Isandlwana*, just before those last clumps of British soldiers such as the one shown in the picture were overrun by the Zulus.
