Everyone...we just "saw" history
This will go down as one of the biggest upsets EVER in Australian Open history, as well as tennis history.
I'm still just stunned.

Yeah that's right, but it's only the Australian Open though.

Yeah, who would have thought that Davenport could beat Camille Pin 6-2, 6-1...

I think back in Wimbledon 1994 Steffi lost in the first round to this one American player(Lory McNeal or something, I don't remember her name ) and Steffi was the defending champion then. I'm pretty sure that upset was as big as this one, maybe even bigger as Steffi was the number one seed, whereas Jennifer is only the third seed.

No need for an apology. We all make mistakes.

Steffi lost to a perfect grass-court player McNeil, so I do not think this loss was bigger then today!

The thing that sticks in my mind is that
the quality of the match was pure class. This was
one of the best 1st round matches I've seen in ages.
Usually if the defending champ or current number 1
falls it's because of tepid, chokey or tanking match play.
Tonight's match was different. Jen really wanted it-
she really gave it her all- perhaps that was the downfall.
Those double faults really bite the dust; but Marlene's
last hurrah at 6-2, 0-3 in the second set was just
amazing.
So who said there's no depth in women's tennis?
