Re: WWW - Switzerland vs Australia? (All about that Tie in here)

Why is Jarka playing when Casey has a better Ranking?

TV schedule is empty a page on Fed Cup websiten.

Already in 1999 in Holland there was TV coverage from the Finale... Where ithink Australia played vs Holland.

Re: WWW - Switzerland vs Australia? (All about that Tie in here)

I don't know i get the informations from the Swiss federation http://swisstennis.com/

The SSR SRG idée suisse is there for the tv, but it won't be streamed or on tv, i think there will only be news reports from the matches

Re: WWW - Switzerland vs Australia? (All about that Tie in here)

About Jarka, i think she might be playing better than Dellacqua right now and has far more fed cup experience than Barty (she played in Fribourg against Switzerland last year). Next to that Oprandi said that she can be really dangerous because she gives no rythm during the points. I saw her last year and that's true, she only plays shots. That could give big difficulties to Oprandi...

I also read Stosur is totally fit, but i think she told the same right before Charleston

Re: WWW - Switzerland vs Australia? (All about that Tie in here)

Yeah it will be decided around 3pm if any match will take place today. The biggest problem as i read was that last night it rained heavily and the courts didn't allow to play until now...

Re: WWW - Switzerland vs Australia? (All about that Tie in here)

It just came out. The matches are postponed to tomorrow 9:30am.

I don't know if they will play all matches tomorrow or will also play on monday, but as i saw the weather forecast for tomorrow it doesn't seem marvellous. between 8 and 15 degrees and a little rain through the day...

Re: WWW - Switzerland vs Australia? (All about that Tie in here)

Thanks for posting.

This really sucks though. Five matches in one day is a tough schedule at the best of times, but with more rain predicted this is turning into a disaster. Playing Monday is a poor alternative IMO, with Stuttgart and Marrakesh starting the same day. Sam at least is playing in Stuttgart, so it would screw her up. Not sure if anybody's playing Marrakesh.

All matches in one day? Risky.

Change venue and go indoor red clay. Surely they have it.

I think they'd have to relocate to another town in that case, not sure how easy that would be to do. Chiasso is a small town, so I'd say it's unlikely to have an indoor red clay facility of sufficient quality. All the same, I take your general point: surely there has to be some kind of contingency plan for this.

I think they had once to change the location for the ITF in Chiasso, but it wasn't red clay... If they can't finish it tomorrow, they will play on monday, but that brings a big stress on the players, because they play more or less all of them next week on the ITF or the WTA

Re: WWW - Switzerland vs Australia? (All about that Tie in here)

As a result, Sunday sees a significantly rejigged schedule of play. The day will begin earlier than planned with Australian team No. 1 Sam Stosur taking on Swiss No. 2 Stefanie Voegele at 09:30 local time, followed by Romina Oprandi of Switzerland against Aussie Jarmila Gajdosova. Time and weather permitting, the reverse singles will be played later in the day.

Should the play-off not reach a conclusion on Sunday, any remaining singles rubbers and the doubles match between the Swiss pair of Timea Bacsinszky and Amra Sadikovic and their Australian counterparts Casey Dellacqua and youngster Ashleigh Barty will take place on the tie’s reserve day, Monday.
