Re: Three Hands #5 - Miami
To Play
Post
- Simply list your three hands clearly and identify your back ups before main draw begins.
- Back ups are not necessary if undesired.
- List a final tie break but are not necessary if undesired.
Code:
We will use Brisbane 2013 as an example:
Hand 1
- Pavlyuchenkova (Errani)
Hand 2
- Kerber (Stosur)
- Kvitova (Vinci)
Hand 3
- Azarenka (Lisicki)
- Sharapova (Wozniacki)
- S.Williams (Stephens)
Final
- 20 games
Score
- A scoreboard will be updated by the manager
Code:
How to score?
Hand 1
> 4
> 4 x 3 = 12, earns 12 points
Hand 2
> 2 + 1 = 3
> 3 < 4 so 3 x 0 = 0, earns 0 points
Hand 3
> Wozniacki replaces Sharapova
> 3 + 0 + 5 = 8
> 8 > 4 + 3, earns 8 points
Total Scored: 12 + 0 + 8 = 20 Points
Perfect Hands
- Perfect Hands may have multiple combinations.
Code:
How to achieve perfect hands?
32 draw = Pick Winner, Finalist, 2 Semifinalists and 2 of the 4 Quarter-finalists
64 draw = Pick Winner, Finalist, 2 Semifinalists, 4 Quarter-finalists and any 1 Round 16 achiever
128 draw = Pick Winner, Finalist, 2 Semifinalists, 4 Quarter-finalists and any 4 Round 16 achievers

Re: Three Hands #5 - Miami
Picking Ideas
For an 128-draw game, the maximum amount of basic points one can get would be 51.
If you try to max Hand 1 for bonus points, your Hand 2 & 3 will receive zero points, like below:
Example 1
7-6-5 = 18x3 = 54
5-4-4-4 = 17x0 = 0
4-3-3-3-3 = 16x0 = 0
Total: 54+0+0 = 54 points x 2 = 108 points
Therefore, one generally has to split the winner and finalist into different hands.
Example 2
7-5-5 = 17x3 = 51
6-4-4-4 = 18x2 = 36
4-3-3-3-3 = 16x0 = 0
Total: 51+36 = 87 points x 2 = 174 points
If someone wants to receive points for the third hand as well to reach the maximum possible, then Hand 3 needs 26 points.
Example 3
5-4-3 = 12x3 = 36
4-3-3-3 = 13x2 = 26
7-6-5-4-4 = 26
Total: 36+26+26 = 88 points x 2 = 176 points
Note: There are multiple combinations of getting those points.
Basically, one either has to go for 12-13-26 or 17-18-16 in basic points. Going for 17-18-16 is much more risky cause one can end up with a higher Hand 1 (like example 1) which effectively kills your earning for Hand 2. Going for 12-13-26 is much safer but the points awarded are usually not the maximum cause it's typically easier to predict who reaches the final but not who reaches Round 16.
The idea of the game is to split your risks. It's somewhat like learning to how do multiple bets in a betting environment to have insurance in case one of your bets fail, so eggs are not all in a basket. Obviously I am not doing a very good job to formulate the game the way I wanted so the rules kept on changing... but it seems like this current rule will stick quite long
