Precisely, Maria has been very cautious about all injuries since she came back. If there was even a wiff of shoulder issues she would have withdrawn immediately.

I would hope she's a lot wiser now, because in 2007-2008 she kept playing through pain and ended up making it worse, leading to the surgery. Though, I know a bad initial diagnosis also had something to do with it.

Re: Miami 2013: Hometown Glory?

Yeah I don't think it's something serious it's just that with all the problems Maria's had with injuries I panic a bit when I hear something's bothering her. But at least now there's some explanation why her game wasn't working today. If she's sore it's normal to be making more UEs and DFs Hope she feels better but she obviously needs some rest she's played a lot of matches in two weeks and the schedule here in Miami doesn't help either. She played 3R and 4R without a day off and now QF and SF again.

I feel like she's learned from that mistake greatly now. Especially after the 07-08 period and that bone bruise/elbow problem she got in 2010.

That first set in particular actually did remind me of a typical 2010 match.

Re: Miami 2013: Hometown Glory?

I'm still as positive as ever, she won in straights and her stats weren't even horrific
I know Na is a much tougher matchup for any player - but Rena's stats were on par to todays performance. The only anomaly was the df'ing from Masha which I put down to fatigue. She's in another premier SF, so the haters can hate tbh, they continue to seethe in GM and then if God forbid she loses in the final to Rena they'll all start celebrating. It's like a never ending cycle with those guys

it reminds me that epic match versus Zakopalova at Rg, during which Masha wasn't able to hold her serve and was trying to break back every time after easily losing her serve . We all know what followed that match

Re: Miami 2013: Hometown Glory?

Can anybody tell me why the semi between Maria and JJ/Roby will be played first, at 1PM tomorrow, while the semi between Sarin and Aga will be played last, at 9PM I know it's a more exciting match, but they have an extra day of rest already, while Maria just finished her match, and JJ and Roby haven't even played until 7PM tonight This is seriously ridiculous

But I thought the same scenario should have happened yesterday, when Serena and Li match is a more exciting one, which should be the night match instead of Aga and Kirsten (in paper of course) Talking like that, I hope Empress and Roby would drag each other into a 3-hour 3-set shitfest in which Empress wins in the end of course

Re: Miami 2013: Hometown Glory?

Yeh seems unfair, particularly for JJ/Vinci. The fact Rena and Aga have had a day off, and then get to play the night session is
tbh Miami is a joke tournament - horrific play - crasy ass wind and multiple withdrawals.

though it might bite the tournament organisers in the ass if JJ comes through and Rena give's Aga a beatdown

I don't think so, it's an IMG tournament and Maria is IMG's biggest female client.

If anything, JJ or Vinci will play a day match after a night match, they should be the one to complain.

Re: Miami 2013: Hometown Glory?

Yeah I don't understand the 5th Slam thing about Miami, or any other tournament for that matter.
It's never great and it's also at a disadvantage for being so close to the clay season, I think a lot of people just want to see an end to it and get some clay court tennis.

Re: Miami 2013: Hometown Glory?

I'm just gonna say it:
but IW/Miami is just an excuse for Americans to have the biggest and best tournaments on the tour over other countries. It's not good enough that they have USO - they need two more slam-like tournaments wedged between the change of surface season
