PYW Doubles Florianópolis
Welcome to Florianópolis, Brazil! This is the inaugural year of this tournament as the WTA circuit returns to Brazil for the first time in more than a decade in preparation for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. The license for this tournament was bought from the event in Marbella, Spain, so this new event represents the continuing global expansion of the WTA. The top seeds this week are Spaniard Anabel Medina Garrigues and Kazakh Yaroslava Shvedova, so there is tons of doubles experience between the two, which means that they will be tough to beat. However, the third seeds, who are in this same half of the draw, also have had a lot of success at doubles, between Hungarian Tímea Babos and Japanese Kimiko Date-Krumm. In the bottom half, the second seeds, Croatian Petra Martić and French Kristina Mladenovic, will certainly hold their own but one very interesting team to look out for could be their opponents, Germans Kristina Barrois and Tatjana Malek. With such interesting teams and more, everyone playing this week will be very determined to be the first champions of this tournament, so your votes matter!
