Re: Rebecca Marino calls time on her tennis career.
I just read an article about her a couple days ago regarding her return
http://www.nytimes.com/2013/02/18/sp...atus.html?_r=0
She claims she took a break before due to "cyber-bullying". Now this retirement.
This is a shame, I have always enjoyed watching her play. If she really did retire because of "cyber bullys" she needs to seek therapy. It is not right, nor is it a normal reaction to have a handful of internet losers dictate your life decisions.

Depression IS a physical illness. It is a physical Nuerotransmitter imbalance in the brain. This kind of ignorant attitude and shaming those that suffer from mental illness is a major reason people don't get help. Hoping your comment is just a language barrier.
Not saying Marino has depression-just commenting on the post.

How would that help her to be a better pro

I have no opinion on if it would help her be a better pro or not.
I think you misunderstand my sentiment.
I just stated it is a shame, given how things have turned out, that she missed the opportunity to attain a college degree on a scholarship.

Yes, of course, but not every "depression" is a depression. I heard people saying they have depression becuase they had a bad mood for one night. Depression is a much serious thing than this. I definitely didn´t shame those that suffer mental illness I was trying to do the opposite. It would be truly disgraceful and inappropriate and I am treated since my puberty for psychical disorders, so I very well know how serious such things are.

Of course she has plenty of time to go to college. You misunderstand yet again.
By turning pro, she cannot now get a SCHOLARSHIP to play NCAA tennis, aka, subsidised education. It is expensive to attend college.
Just expressing that it is a shame she missed out on that opportunity given how things have gone.
Geez.

This. Turning pro early may not be the best choice for everyone.

I knew exactly what you mean about her NCAA status, but I dont see how it would be a huge thing. Im sure she will find somewhere to study, and playing tennis might not be such a priority for her. I dont think she would ever regret giving the pro tour a shot, and I hope she will change her mind again.
