Was concerned with the first set--her movement was oddly sluggish, and she was snatching at her forehand 2011-style. But the second set was much better, she started hitting through her FH much more smoothly. Hopefully she manages to carry on adjusting to the wind. Hopefully

Didn't watch it but nice result, the last time they played in the wind was an exceptionally tricky one, so it's good she kept it tidy.

Pova was lucky today. If Garcia had half a brain things could've been quite different. Pova was tense, anxious and pretty awful in general, with lots of UE and some terrible footwork, but Garcia is a scrub for something: nothing remotely resembling a tactic, and crazily getting all the time inside the court to return Pova's serve, and either, making a mistake or getting totally out of position for the next shot. And she did that again and again and again, just brainless 
Not convinced at all. |
