Re: Lucie Safarova Cheering Thread - Volume 2

I'm surprised Vesnina is on that list. I figured she would be in doubles for fed cup. :/

Re: Lucie Safarova Cheering Thread - Volume 2

She chose Sofia over Fed Cup, as it looks like Pavs and Kiri have done, so Lucie isn't in.

Also, seems she has a new BF...Sloane Stephens old coach name is Troy Hahn

Re: Lucie Safarova Cheering Thread - Volume 2

Andrea Hlavackova:

After five successful years playing doubles with Lucie Hradecka, I have decided to start a new partnership with Lucie Safarova in 2014. I would like to thank Lucie Hradecka very much for all the years we played together as a team, it was an amazing part of my career that I will never forget. I wish her all the best for the future.

Apparently Safarova and Hlavackova are playing doubles for all of 2014. 0_0

Re: Lucie Safarova Cheering Thread - Volume 2

I have to say, I am very confused by this decision. First off, it makes no sense to me that Hradecka and Hlavackova would split up after winning the US Open a few months ago and being such good friends. Also, Lucie and Pavs were doing better and better. Very confusing. Hope they make a good team!!

Re: Lucie Safarova Cheering Thread - Volume 2

Pavs wants to focus on singles so she didnt wanna commit to a doubles partner.

I also dunno why Lucie didnt go to Sofia as the first alt...she would be in now

Re: Lucie Safarova Cheering Thread - Volume 2

So since it's off season, I thought I'd ask...what was everyone's favourite match of Lucie's of the season?

For me it was all her wins over Stosur no I'm kidding, although the one in Tokyo was great play I thought the fight in her match with Petkovic in Beijing was great, the Quebec final because it was a title, and since I was there, her AO R1 win over Lucic was one of the smarter matches I've seen her play. The majority of the good wins came in the end of the season

The most painful?

Probably fed cup against Vinci, or RG R1 against Hampton...maybe the 3 hour loss to Sharapova in Stuttgart too.

And the worst?

Obviously winning 1 game against Solovyeva, but that doesn't count.

Anyone else wanna join in and say theirs?

Re: Lucie Safarova Cheering Thread - Volume 2

Hmmmm... I think my favorite may be when she beat Vinci in Tokyo. Just because she lost to her in the US Open, in large part because she was such a wreck mentally. And Vinci made her cry after Fed Cup. So to turn that around at the end of the year and post a solid, straight set victory over her was a great note to end on at the end of the year. But this year, other than the fall part of the season, was not one to remember.

And let's not mention that Solovyeva blunder.

Re: Lucie Safarova Cheering Thread - Volume 2

I wish we had seen that Vinci match because it would have felt better to see her get that win

She definitely saved her season in her last 3 tournaments, the first half of the year was a mess, and between Wimbledon and USO was an embarrassment. The only good thing about that is she has hardly anything to defend, and she'll be sitting on the 755 points she got in Quebec/Tokyo/Beijing for all of the slams. Oh yeah, the period from Paris-Charleston was also a huge mess
