Re: Lucie Safarova Cheering Thread - Volume 2

She looks relaxed and like she is having fun in Canadia on her Facebook, so that's good. I am wondering why she did not play Carlsbad or Stanford some before the Roger's Cup though. This could be a real tumble.

Re: Lucie Safarova Cheering Thread - Volume 2

I think she needed the time off especially after the Budapest debacle. The training could be good for her, but shes probably not gonna be seeded at USO so this could be a bad month or so

Lucie seems to have better results when she's not seeded, so maybe it's a good thing.

Re: Lucie Safarova Cheering Thread - Volume 2

The ranking looks quite precarious considering how many tournaments she's played for so little return. Canada usually brings some success for her so maybe she'll play better again similar to Charleston.

Still, she needs to not run in to a random form player early.

[3] A.Radwanska vs BYE
Wickmayer vs Robson
Zheng vs Barthel
Mladenovic vs [14] Stephens
[11] Kirilenko vs Q
Cornet vs Vesnina
Zakopalova vs Safarova
BYE vs [5] Errani

Lucie's section, not a bad draw, if she gets pass R1 and R2, I would see her in SF

Re: Lucie Safarova Cheering Thread - Volume 2

I wouldn't see her getting past R1 or R2, and her head to head with Kirilenko is bad as well.

Why does she always draw Zakopalova

Zakopalova every time! So strange. I'm not predicting anything this tournament because I have no idea what her form will be.

This is her most consistent tournament. I hope she does well again. Really liking her draw.

Re: Lucie Safarova Cheering Thread - Volume 2

Lucie + a good draw usually = disaster...

Lucie and Zakopalova matches you might just as well flip a coin. They're playing tomorrow anyway.

Re: Lucie Safarova Cheering Thread - Volume 2

I don't even think it's a good draw I think she'll lose in R1 or R2, her matches with Klara are a ridiculous mess.

She's seeded in doubles though

Re: Lucie Safarova Cheering Thread - Volume 2

Regardless of how bad shes playing, I always keep faith/confidence in her. As long as I dont see a Williams, Azarenka, or Sharapova in her section I consider it a good draw. But seeing how shes been playing this year any draw for her could be considered bad.

Re: Lucie Safarova Cheering Thread - Volume 2

Can't pick who would win the Lucie-Kookie match....Klara has had a much better year than Lucie, but you never know what Kookie will show up, like Lucie I guess.

These errors are atrocious. It amazes me that she still cant clean her game up. She needs a new coach.

Well Zakopalova gifted that game to her.

Re: Lucie Safarova Cheering Thread - Volume 2

Still thinking about this loss. From her point of view I can "almost" understand it. She's barely captured any consecutive back to back wins this year and when you're losing constantly over and over again (especially after leading in several matches) it really starts to mess with your head. Granted I am not a tennis player but I do play quite a lot of Top Spin 4 on Wii and I know how frustrated I get when I lose a lot of matches against the computer. It sometimes takes me a couple of matches to start winning again. One thing about tennis is that people who dont watch it dont realize is just how mental this game is. Its SO up and down. You can be a subpar player but if you have the mental toughness and believe that you can win any match, that works wonders. I honestly think that Lucie's biggest weakness is her mental game. Not her return of serve, not her movement, and not even her second serve. It all comes down to belief, and I think that's what she lacks most at this point. And thats the most important thing in this sport. Belief in winning is what can make a tennis player stand out, even if they dont have the tools that top players possess..
