Re: Off Topic....Anything Goes vol4
Anyone else wishing Maria had played Dubai?! Could've gotten her first HC title in a year with Azarenka/Serena out!

Re: Off Topic....Anything Goes vol4
Dubai isn't an abandoned tournament. Even with the top two seeds out, the rest of the top 10 is still there bar Na Li. Players like Kvitova, Radwanska and Wozniacki are still in so it's not an abandoned tournament at all. Skipping Dubai might be Maria shooting herself in the foot because she'll be going into IW without any momentum.

Re: Off Topic....Anything Goes vol4
Maria would have to play at least a tournament in which she is the top seed ( International or Premier), to win tournaments easier.

Ha, yeah, could've tanked Doha and let Vika/Serena duke it out there, then arrive at Dubai with a depleted field

Re: Off Topic....Anything Goes vol4
Мария will have a Sugarpova event at IW so we are in for some gorgeous off-court pics. Hopefully, she attends the Vanity Fair party as well.

She has 6 tournaments to play during the next 3 months. Three of those six are two-week ones. That is gonna be loads of tennis, she cannot waste her time with playing Dubai. She might even show up for Fed Cup as ridiculous as it sounds.
As to a title on hard, relax! Maria is playing Stanford with her main rival there being Stosur so she will get that one; God forbid her fucking that up as well. Moreover, its not like IW is lock-on for the Demon, Maria will have something to say about that tournament.

There's plenty of rest during IW and Miami if Maria doesn't spend 3 hours struggling past everyone, she will get a day off after most matches. Right now Maria has basically no form nor quality wins under her belt, she needs matches right now if she wants to play well again in time for the clay season in order to defend all those points. Dubai was an excellent opportunity to calmly play herself into form without having to face her nemeses. Regarding Stanford, I strongly believe Stosur is no longer Maria's shoe-in pigeon and since it's a pretty fast hardcourt and Maria hasn't really played well there in the past, I don't take that title for granted at all.
