I agree. There's no need to set a sub 3½ hour pace from the start. It's going to be really hard towards the end.
Yes, that's what I fear. She should have started on a schedule of 4 hours and 15 minutes, or something like that. Than if she still felt great at 25 or 30 km she could have picked up the pace. The way she is going she'll meet the man with the hammer I fear. But perhaps I'm too pressimistic - let's hope so.
