She's not atheletic enough to get better with age. Li is good because she's a fabulous athlete. Pova on the other hand is very much lacking in that department.

Besides there are many talented players who are better then her.

Maria has improved a lot over the last few years and she came out really strong this year before that loss against Li.I think she'll have a good year.

Ok. We shall see. I just don't see Maria being one of those players who will be able to produce as her career adds more years the way other players do. When she has lost she has lost big in majors recently (minus 3 setter to Aza at US Open)

Oh there's no doubt she will have a good year and be there at the "business end" of majors, but her athleticism, while improved, I don't think is good enough to beat the Vikas and Serena's that she will see in semis and finals at the majors. If Serena isn't there, Vika most likely will be. And as great as a second half 2012 as Serena had, her window is closing quick. I still think Serena will have a good year, but Vika is the future along with hopefully some other up and coming ladies.

Agreed. Speed does not get better with age. She's improved a lot over the years but as time goes on she'll get slower. It'll only get tougher against players like Vika you can match Maria's pace and run down her balls.

It depends on how her form will be on clay with Li,Azarenka,Serena all in contention but I think she can manage to defend her RG title.

And a slam defence takes place a full year after the initial win.



I'd take two different slams over two of the same.

I don't. As good as Vika right now, her tennis is way too demanding physically for her.
I can see her ending her career with 3 or 4 majors, only HC ones.

Looking at 2012, Maria, Vika and Serena were easily the best, also Serena ofc ahead of them.

Must agree with you on this. Capriati defended a slam, but nobody uses that fact to rate her above Davenport. Likewise Evert was better at defending slams than anyone other than Graf, but no-one ever mentions that in her GOAT arguments. Troll thread.
