Rationally though, an off-day was bound to happen for Maria and looks like it happened at the wrong time -- this is the disadvantage of playing a bunch of overrated scrubs before you face the real deal/competition and anyways she wasn't going to defeat Victoria in this tournament so I guess a SF is a good ending to all this.

From the little I saw from the match, Maria was getting exposed with a clinical gameplan like she usually does against the couple Victoria/Serena which allows the upper statement to be formulated in such manner, obviously being off, having the inability to change gameplan etc. doesn't help either to stay tough and probably break wholes in Li's game.

Vika is less dangerous player than Li Na . When Li Na is on fire she can outhit and outplay even Serena. Her main problem is to play the whole match "on fire" otherwise she can collapse and lose faster than checkmate in three moves in chess.. She managed to do it vs Sharapova, if she manages vs Vika , say Good bye to Vika

Anyone that has the slightest bit of knowledge about tennis (or has even seen these players play before) wouldn't say Maria was anywhere near her best, or that she didn't have a chance or that she got overpowered etc. Every single part of her game was WAY bellow what it was before this match (which was also far from her best).
