First set was compelling. Vika tried to played it safe again and that's not really working for her. Once she got more aggressive, things started to click.
Kuznetsova was low on steam in the second though, you could tell the sheer number of matches during the past few weeks caught up with her.
Unless a miracle happens I don't see Vika having a shot at beating Serena, her level this tournament has been way too shaky.

She was limping in the beginning of the second set.Hopefully she's fine and the knee is allright. Great run for Sveta, played Quallies and still made it to the Qtr finals! Well done Sveta.
Vika didnt play that well.

Sveta odds for French Open? This form plus last year´s draw and Errani isn´t even sniffing the final.
First set brought out the best in Vika. Really strong clutch offensive play. Sveta didn´t do much wrong. Then she was just tired mentally and physically.
If Vika can find an Adv serve above Errani level, she will definitely win more Slams.

Some very good stuff in that first set from both players, some quality shots. Svetlana's game dropped, and Vika eased to the win by playing decently in the second.
Decent stuff, well played Vika.

Sveta deserves the top 20  it was good to see her back to this level, she run out of gas after 1h... Vika was more consistent in the end, played well. |

Sadly predictable  Sveta showing as expected in the first set that she does have more raw firepower than Vika, but on this surface she just can't afford to have lapses against Aza, and Sveta just had WAY too many. Wouldn't be surprised if she beat her on clay this year though. Overall a very promising start to Kuzy's comeback.
I thought Vika played quite well
