What is that supposed to mean? When has Sanchez ever failed as a full-time coach? Jankovic and Petrova enjoyed the most successful stretches of their careers under him. It´s not like Lisicki has set the bar very high, outisde of Wimbledon.

I dont know. Sanchez did an unbelievable job coaching Nadia.
She won an Olympic medal, gave Sharapova a tough match at USO. Won Tokyo, won Tournament of Champions, won YEC doubles. That was all August, Sept, Oct. Just a few months.

Those are some of the best results of Nadia's career, and she was #3 about 7 years ago

Re: Lisicki appoints Ricardo Sanchez as coach

Anyway, glad to see that, judging from this thread, the consensus on Lisicki is finally shifting -- until now people have seemingly regarded her as having no talent even at her best, but I really do think she's a big underachiever thus far, with the potential to win Wimbledon one day if she starts actually working hard.

That will be one, big mess.

Lock in before she drops further down in the rankings.

Re: Lisicki appoints Ricardo Sanchez as coach

Nadia is so crazy, why she dumped him after all that success?

And then the loss to the 42 year old Kimiko

Hopefully he´ll make Lisicki play better.

Which is why I really don't understand why Nadia decided to split with Sanchez?
What was the reason? She seemed to be playing well again with him

Re: Lisicki appoints Ricardo Sanchez as coach

It seems to me that Sanchez is one of those coaches whose character can be either a great motivation for the player and lead them to the highlights, or can make some damage, I don't know... However, it is true that he is the one who Jelena and Nadia will miss a lot... That has been already proven in their cases.

Re: Lisicki appoints Ricardo Sanchez as coach

This could turn out very well for her.

If it doesn't then no loss; I doubt she will play worse with him as coach.

I'm one of her biggest fans and I am sure that Sabine's problem isn't her work ethic. It's mostly mental and strategic. Obviously she has other troubles to work on like getting her serve more consistent, rallying and net play etc As for work ethic, we can see how hard she's worked on her fitness in the off season, she looked leaner and stronger and she played very well against Safarova, lost to the World No 1 in Brisbane. The only disappointing match was against Wozniacki. It was a mental meltdown in the 3rd set and I think her lack of match play hurt her. I know she's had a poor record since Wimbledon too but I certainly don't think Bine has been lazy. A change was needed because I think her dad had taken her as far as he can.

Interesting pairing.
Actually it's always interesting to see the Ricardo effect.
