I'm actually considering missing the rest of Dubai just to test this theory.

We should all do that. I'm also thinking traveling to the south and practicing black magic.
Oh Ana! If she could win another big title, we would be the happiest fanbase ever.

Re: Going East for Success (February Thread)
Her shoulder I can't. I mean did it just start hurting again in this match or has she been playing with it at less than 100% for 2 weeks now
She better not pull out of Indian Wells and be 100% by the time she gets there, I need some good results from here

Re: Going East for Success (February Thread)
Whatever happens in Dubai, I just want her to be fine. She will have enough time to rest till Indian Wells. She will receive bye in 1st round as will be seeded, so I think Ana will play first match there on March 6th or 7th.

Am I the only one who thinks she's defeating Kvitova?

Re: Going East for Success (February Thread)
I think she might be able to do that because these two are both playing aggressively. Ana is better against players who have similar style to her and I think Kvitova is one of those. A top 10 win would certainly help her gain a lot of self-confidence for the upcoming big events in US.

Re: Going East for Success (February Thread)
Ana played great when she had her back against the wall.. but whenever she actually had a shot at winning, she would play some horrible tennis. Those games at 5-5 in both sets were horrendous. And the tie break as well.
Quality of tennis can be good.. but the next step on the improvement curve is learn how to win crucial points, and how to actually believe she can win. This match proves yet against Ana is just not ready to win.. she isn't prepared for it.. she is just trying to make it competitive, so when she has a chance of more, she can't take it.
In the end, yet another 2 set loss to a top player.. its just predictable nowadays..
Sad draw really.. with Serena and Vika withdrawing, anywhere else she landed, she'd have a better chance of making a QF at least.. still hasn't made one this year.
Big points to defend now in IW. Could drop her as far as 18 in the rankings.. who wants to open the thread for IW and Miami?

Re: Going East for Success (February Thread)
We should all be proud of Ana... Baby steps but she becomes competitive with top players. Let's be positive, she becomes semi-agressive and plays much more patiently, which is a great thing IMO.
Congrats Ana. Keep improving.
