AEGON Junior Nationals 2013

Junior nationals starts in a couple weeks. I know I'm a bit early starting this thread, but this is one of my favourite parts of the year. Does anyone have any early predictions for our winners?

Re: AEGON Junior Nationals 2013

I haven't seen the acceptance lists; the ones on the LTA site required membership or something, and the events weren't visible on the tournamentsoftware site. Either that, or I'm just too thick to find them.

Anyhow, I'll reserve judgement on the winners.

Re: AEGON Junior Nationals 2013

I haven't seen the acceptance lists either. I'm thinking they'll likely be available this weekend.

Re: AEGON Junior Nationals 2013

Very conservative predictions.

Armstrong
Mikheeva (in the apparent absence of Swan, not to mention Axon)
Lumsden (or should I pick Taylor)
Dart

Re: AEGON Junior Nationals 2013

Draws (thanks @emmawilson97)

Harriet presumably off to North America, so I'll swap Christie for Dart in the 18s.

Re: AEGON Junior Nationals 2013

16s looks the most interesting this year, with the potential for a Taylor-Lumsden final. I think your predictions are pretty much the same as mine, Embittered.

Re: AEGON Junior Nationals 2013

Results are arriving from Bournemouth faster than from Nottingham.

Tomorrow's 12s semis are set:
Kira Reuter[1] v Esther Adeshina[3]
Lauren Armstrong[4] v Gemma Heath[2]

Heath (who she?) has been convincing and Reuter (would have been overage until a couple of years ago, grr) very convincing. Armstrong, not so much.

Come on, Lauren, start channelling your future GOATness and show your class.

Re: AEGON Junior Nationals 2013

I'm still backing Lauren to win the title. She really seems to have stepped up her game in the last few months. Gemma had a decent run earlier this year as well, and Esther is always doing well in domestic tournaments. Kira has the advantage of being older than the others, and is talented in her own right.

Re: AEGON Junior Nationals 2013

Freya Christie knocked out of the 18s by Emily Smith. I kinda saw that coming after Freya's great run the last few weeks. She's probably exhausted (and Emily is a good player in her own right). All the other matches in the 18s seems to have gone to form.

The 16s is at the semifinal stage now, with two interesting matches to come:
Gabriella Taylor vs. Emily Arbuthnott
Jasmine Amber Asghar vs. Maia Lumsden

Anastasia Mikheeva continues as favourite in the 14s, but I'm thinking Jodie Burrage, Ellie-Rose Griffiths or Lauryn John-Baptiste can provide some stiff competition.

Reuter and Heath won their semis in straight sets in the 12s.
