Yeah, she's like a 3rd Williams sister for people who are tired of Serena and want to root for a new Williams sister who's like an underdog and maybe has a better personality. And plus I think she reminds people of Michael Jackson when he was still black and wasn't so obviously weird (and was alive). But for me the one who has a special place in my heart will always be Harkleroad  |

We'll have to wait it out and see. Morrissey is going overboard, but his point still stands. The REAL test is when Sloane starts winning and beating the IMG-queens ( Sharapova, et al)...Stephens playing solid against Serena?!  Finally somebody, anybody,..  But will she still be loved when she starts beating Maria, continues beating Robson?!

This is a real world, everyone gets disliked and attacked by some ppl unless she's irrelevant. Not everything involves a coloured person must have anything to do with racism.

She's new. The closer she gets to the Top 10, you'll start to notice more people who dislike her. Happens to every major player.

Basically. She's new, not battle tested, and hasn't crushed the dreams of Sharapova, Azarenka, or any of the major players. The American commentators love Sloane because she conforms to the system much like Chanda Rubin. She fits in, says the right things at times, and hasn't started winning titles yet. Oh, and they love the fact that another black woman can take it to Serena which is something they've been hyping up other players to do for years. If she was to ever get a win over Serena at a slam(which is unlikely) they would exalt her to high heavens as an example of what type of black athlete they want and accept. 
Then again, Sloane seems nice. I don't know if she has the instinct to be a champion like Venus, Serena, or Sharapova but she has a good head on her shoulders. In my opinion, we'll have to see how she's able to really deal with the pressure of expectations. Right now she's playing freely without much pressure but once Sloane starts to come into her own more will be required of her. Luckily, she didn't get the hype like Melanie Oudin and had to work her way up at a slower pace. That will bode well for her in the future.
