We were treated to two great matches tonight,

first Vika and Kuzy played such high quality tennis it was a wonderful to watch and long overdue, Kuzy (the wily veteran) exhibited such variety in her amazing shots which included drop shots, great angled ones and difficult slices. So nice to see her back and in such good form.

Vika was pressured all through the first set but she showed her #1 class in the end edging out Kuzy for the first set. The calibre especially on Kuzy's racquet went down in the 2nd set so Vika took full advantage of that and sailed through easily but it will benefit her in the long run to have had such a pressure filled 1st set.

Now, comes the drama Queen

and she certainly lived up to that name with her injuries,

the broken racquet she crushed (at least she didn't take out her frustration out on a linesperson) but give it up for young Sloane Stephens who put herself on the map tonight with her "gutsy" performance, granted it came down to the last point the tension was so high but "kudo's" to Sloane who held her composure (were you watching Stosur?) and that gift of youth where you can 'lay it all out there' without any fear is priceless, so congrats to her as well. Vika while she doesn't face Madame S, this kid is an "S" too and it stands for super

...so she'll have to be at her best as well. But welcome to the big stage, she's come a long way and should be very proud of taking Serena out, injured or not Serena such a fierce competitor while others would have 'packed it in' she fought on so you have to applaud her for that.
